Coburg, in the late autumnal evening light. Been a while since I posted on the 'gram. The 'gram can be a very depressing place and the algorithm is like some dog with ADHD constantly at you then chasing its tail then at you then chasing its tail then at you and how many of us have the discipline to train the algorithm to heel and only show us what we would like to see and not the probably AI generated short video slop it wants to feed us. The answer for me is in the following tab and seeing what the human beings I follow are actually up to. These are a few shots I got one evening in Coburg during the golden hour to finish up a roll. I saved up a roll of Portra for a project I am working on and had a few spare shots at the end of the roll to use and the backlots of Coburg market looked very photogenic so here we are. The first photo had some scratches on the film that can be seen in the sky. A reminder to embrace the chaos of film photography. My camera was in for a service and tonight I'm heading out again into the golden hour to see what I can see and photograph what I can photograph. Looking forward to having three of my photos exhibited in @kindredcameras Lost and Found exhibition along with 30 other photographers and artists here in Naarm. It is a group exhibition exploring ghost signs, faded facades, and urban relics that whisper stories of the past. I hand printed my photos at @brunswickdarkroom — was my very first time printing photographs myself and I have a lot to learn. One lesson this has taught me though is that taking the photo is only half the journey. Printing it and making it a physical part of the world is just as important for the practice of photography. The exhibition opens on Friday 4 July 2025, 6pm, Kindred Cameras, 454 Docklands Dr, Docklands. Exhibition runs from 5 - 15 July. Hope to see you there!

My old Nikon FM2 chewed a roll of film recently. I got some unusual double exposures that I would never have taken deliberately before the film jammed completely and I had to get home and remove it in a dark bag.
