Most crowd work content is built around humiliation, interruption, or quick punchline exchanges designed for short clips. “Who are you dating?” “Where do you work?” BORING and uninspired. I’d rather ask “WHY are you dating” and “WHY do you work?”
Surrounded is different.
The show creates the feeling of being at a great party — the kind where strangers unexpectedly become interesting, small conversations turn super personal, and the entire room feels connected by the end of the night.
The audience is not treated like a target. They become the story.
Filmed entirely in the round, Surrounded removes the traditional separation between performer and audience. Nobody disappears into darkness. Everyone is visible. Every reaction matters. At any moment, attention can shift anywhere in the room. Everyone has a story. Everyone has depth. The comedians are there to guide the audience through that depth in a hilarious way.
That tension creates intimacy.
The result is a crowd work format that feels less like stand-up comedy from a stage and more like being inside a living, unpredictable social experience.
