Happy #SurreyDay! Did you know that Surrey has some wonderful hidden gems to explore? You may even retrace the footsteps of some of your favourite classic authors! Follow the White Rabbit to Wonderland with Alice and her sister next to the River Wey or go through the looking-glass in Guildford Castle gardens 🐇 Stay in the shadow of Jane Austen in areas like Great Bookham or Westhumble and explore your own secret trails at Box Hill. Take a pub crawl with Charles Dickens at the King's Arms pub and the White Horse Inn in Dorking 🍻 Get lost like Agatha Christie did in 1926, where her car was found near Silent Pool in Shere 💦 Rediscover the magic of C.S. Lewis' iconic children's classic with the Banstead Woods Narnia Trail 🦁 Enjoy the luxury of the Burford Bridge Hotel like 'Treasure Island' author Robert Louise Stevenson, or pop into the Hand & Spear in Weybridge 🏨 Hunt for Martians in Woking and live out War of the Words like H.G. Wells 👽🛸 Let books take you away to somewhere hidden... Big thank you to our @ewell_library for this video! 💚 @visitsurrey #SurreyLibrariesUK #Surrey [Library staff smiling and waving at the camera while standing next to library shelves. "If we don’t talk about death and dying and bereavement, it can be harder to cope when we experience it." Talking about dying matters. Death, dying, and grief affect us all. Our books are here to support you and help you talk. The display in the image, in our @woking_library , was created in response to a current exhibition "Everything We Love We Will Lose" by artist duo YARA + DAVINA at the Lightbox Gallery @thelightboxwoking in Woking. The display contains books that touch on the theme of loss. The exhibition explores themes of grief, loss and bereavement, including personal experiences of pregnancy loss. It runs from 18 April to 5 July. #DyingMattersAwarenessWeek #DyingMatters #TalkingAboutDyingMatters @hospice_uk

Hi, this is Adam, Library Assistant behind the Ewell Library Young Adult Book Club. I chose this title because I felt it fit perfectly within the #NationalYearOfReading2026. With depictions of strong male friendships, and an action driven plot, it’s the perfect book to get people reading! Title: The Maze Runner Summary: Thomas’ life changes when he finds himself in the Glade with no memories, surrounded by other boys with no memories, and the only way out is through a life-threatening maze. And then the first girl arrives. Opening Lines: He began his new life standing up, surrounded by cold darkness and stale, heavy air. This Book in Three Words: Dystopia, Danger, Action If you liked this book, check out the rest of the series by James Dashner @dashnerjames Ewell Library Young Adult Book Club All titles are available on the Surrey Libraries Catalogue #EwellLibraryYABookClub [Video description: Photo of a hand holding the book The Maze Runner in a polaroid frame graphic in front of a graphic book tile background. Text at the top reads “May Read!”, and text at the bottom of the page shows the book club hashtag. Text on polaroid reads “The Maze Runner”. Transitions to video showing the front cover of the book. Text at the top reads “Title:”, with the title of the book visible in the video below. Text at the bottom reads “This Book in Three Words: Dystopia, Danger, Action”. Cuts to video of the back of the book, with text at the top reading “Summary:” and text at the bottom reading “If you liked this book, don’t forget to check out the rest of the series!”. Video zooms in on the blurb of the book before panning down to show other titles by the author. Cuts to video of the first page of the book, with text at the top reading “Opening lines:”. Video scans across the opening lines of the book. Cuts back to video of the front cover of the book.
