By public demand, some news from my solo project for @dargaud . This is page 121, I completed inking on it yesterday night. Still roughly 80 pages to go, if all goes as planned the book will be released early 2028. I'm writing, drawing, lettering and coloring it all by myself. To give you a rough idea of what it talks about I would say it's a mix of the animated series Love, Death & Robots and Moebius' The Airtight Garage (Le Garage Hermétique de Jerry Cornelius).

🇫🇷 Step by step d’une case de mon album à paraître (en 2027, patience !) chez Dargaud. Le storyboard permet de fixer l’intention narrative au travers des informations essentielles à montrer dans chaque case, mais il ne faut jamais hésiter à l’approfondir, le complexifier (voire s’en écarter) quand vient le moment de crayonner et encrer la case définitive. Si le passage à l’encrage a été correctement mené, la mise en couleur permettra d’amplifier l’impact de l’image en séparant les plans, en mettant en valeur certains personnages ou éléments de décor, mais surtout elle permettra de mettre définitivement en place l’ambiance visuelle, par exemple ici la passerelle d’un vaisseau spatial à l’atmosphère tamisée, où les divers écrans de navigation sont les sources de lumière principales.

🇬🇧 Step by step of a panel from my graphic novel to be published (in 2027, please be patient!) at Dargaud. The storyboard sets the narrative intention through essential information to be shown in each panel, but one should never hesitate to deepen it, complicate it (or even depart from it) when the time comes to pencil and ink the final art. If the transition to inking has been properly carried out, the coloring will amplify the impact of the image by separating the plans, highlighting certain characters or elements of the setting, but above all it will allow the visual atmosphere to be definitively established, for example here the dimly lit bridge of a spacecraft, where the various navigation screens are the main light sources.

Mon hommage à la librairie Temps Futurs au détour d'une case de mon roman graphique pour Dargaud. Temps Futurs était LE temple des imports à la fin des années 70 à Paris, c'est là que j'ai acheté les Starlog, Famous Monsters, Cinefex et autres artbooks sur Star Wars et ALIEN qui peuplent toujours les étagères de ma bibliothèque. Cette librairie, tenue de main de maître par Stan et Sophie Barets, a depuis longtemps disparu mais elle est toujours présente dans la mémoire de ceux qui l'ont fréquentée !

My tribute to the bookstore Temps Futurs in a panel of my graphic novel for Dargaud. Temps Futurs was THE temple of imports at the end of the 70s in Paris, that’s where I bought the Starlog, Famous Monsters, Cinefex and other artbooks about Star Wars and ALIEN that still populate my library shelves. This bookshop, held by the master hand of Stan and Sophie Barets, has long since disappeared but is still present in the memory of those who have frequented it!
