You can’t kill us all you know.
You can’t kill all of us mothers.
All of us nurses,
All the protesters
who appear out of nowhere by the thousands
—whose people came from everywhere around the world
for generations back
—who step up and take the places of those you murder, those you kidnap
and these tens of thousands are everybody. Carpenters, physicists, waitresses
trash collectors, teachers. Skilled workers and unskilled
Swarms of poor and wealthy, healthy and sick, aged and teenagers.
Walking, singing, peaceful, adamant.
We sure scare you. You cling in rat packs, hide your faces, shoot aimlessly, repeatedly at you know not what—something that is coming for you, that will get you.
The nurse who helped two old ladies you gassed.
The mother of three who said “’I’m not mad at you.”
Just stop. Put down your guns, take off your mask, go home. You probably still have some people who care about you, who can forgive you and take you back.
Each day you will be more isolated, unloved, guilty and ashamed, angry that we make you attack your own people.
As we push, move, grind this moving mass of murder you are from our streets, parking lots and homes, you become more terrified, more violent.
You are right, eventually, we could come for you all.
But by then you will be running, hiding, hoping your mask also protected your family
We probably can forgive you and move on. We do want our country back, and

The ranks of the 2025 Coureur Holiday Ride suddenly thinned as the dirt conspiracy, led by @outdoor_fitness_coach , split off at La Costa and headed inland for an alternate route that took in the many Carlsbad/Encinitas heights and sights, all accessed via (often steep) single track and utility roads. The 30-mile route rendezvoused back at @canyon HQ for food, fun, and festivities, courtesy of the @canyon_road_ crew @thewrenchhouse and the diabolical denizens that comprise @coureurcycling . Special thanks to @jocelyns_leukemia_journey for the inspiration, @surfkatt for leading us out (in more ways than one), and to everyone who donated to Jocelyn’s @cityofhope toy drive. Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there—on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.

The 17th Annual Holiday Toy Ride is in the bag, but we’re gonna do it again next year—second Saturday in December (12/13/25)! After a few miles of solidarity with the road group down the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway, the dirt devotees hit the trails for 28 miles of gravel gratitude. Turns out the Holiday RD is rich with potholes, sand, dogs, ruts, and friends. We wouldn’t have it any other way!
