We’re celebrating five years of Surf Gems with free shipping this weekend :) What started in 2020 with a few scraps of surfboard resin, borrowed tools, and zero jewelry experience has turned into the most meaningful, colorful, and joy-filled adventure of my life. From sanding my fingers off to working side-by-side with my mom (now full-time GemMama 💎), every step has been a mix of curiosity, chaos, and so much gratitude. I still can’t believe I get to do this — to turn what was once “trash” into something that carries stories, connection, curiosity, and more color to the world! Thanks for being part of it. 💛 Celebrate 5 years with free shipping all weekend — link in bio.

often it feels like i’m never doing enough because there is always more to do
but reflecting on this past year helped me see how much i’ve accomplished
it reminded me to pause, bottle this feeling, and return to it whenever i need a reminder of what’s possible a lot can happen in a year
i want to remember to celebrate the big moments, learn from the hard ones,
and trust that growth is happening, even when it’s hard to see in the moment

It’s hard to explain how special this collection is to me. Not only are the vibrant colors and fluid shapes of Inner Circle undoubtably my favorite thus far. But the memories associated with the creation of this whole collection make this the nearest and dearest to my heart. Inspired by my dream bachelorette surf trip in Mexico and the women who have held space for me in every era of my life yet. Each piece is handmade with love from reclaimed surfboard resin on in Morro Bay, California. 🤍Abby

I feel so lucky to have my mom as my mom. I’m grateful I get to live near her, work with her, and share the biggest creative project of my life with her! My mom joined the surf gems team before there was even a team to join, it was me in my garage and her helping ship product and talk through all the details of my dream when I was just starting to make sustainable jewelry out of surfboard resin. Now it’s the two of us every day. Not only has surf gems brought us so much closer, but we actually get to share days doing something creative that we both really love. My art is certainly a reflection of the women that came before me. My mom, and her mom, are undoubtably the reason I am also an artist. I cherish the simple fact of knowing my own mother, of having known my grandmother, and of getting to witness the mirror that that knowing creates. Loving my mom extra today 🤍

I truly can’t beleive how lucky I am to get to run my sustainable jewelry business with my mom right by my side. I truly couldn’t do it without her, and I can’t beleive after 5 years of working towards it I was able to hire her full time! She’s the best in every way and I count my blessing every day 🤍

This might sound crazy, but it really feels like the more beautiful my life becomes, the more beautiful my art becomes. This is undoubtedly my favorite collection of pieces yet, and likewise, my favorite season of life yet :) If you haven’t seen the collection, explore Inner Circle on the site now. Each piece is sustainably hand crafted from reclaimed surfboard resin in my little studio on the central coast of California.

After spending some of the best days of my life on my surfboard in the cold waters of Morro Bay, I learned about the byproduct of surfboard creation. When boards are laminated, excess resin builds up on the shop floor and is usually thrown away. I couldn’t stop thinking about those layers of color, so nearly six years ago, I started turning them into jewelry. Each piece is one of one, handcrafted by me and my small team here in the town where I first fell in love with surfing. On a recent surf trip in Mexico, I got to share that love with some of my closest girlfriends. Our newest collection, Inner Circle, was inspired by that trip—a celebration of friendship and the kind of closeness that comes from living life alongside each other. There are still some pieces available. Link in bio.

With my wedding right around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to build a life with the people you love—not just my fiancé, but the friends who have shaped me along the way. Instead of a traditional bachelorette party, I invited 20 of my closest girlfriends on a surf trip to Mexico to celebrate that platonic love. Between big group moments and quiet one-on-one time, I kept noticing how much care moved through every interaction. My favorite part of traveling with friends is getting to live alongside them for a few days—to see them first thing in the morning, to sit next to them in comfortable silence while I knit and they read, to share meals, laughter, and sunscreen. There was this underlying feeling the whole time, unspoken but constant: I see you, and I love you. I realized this is what we’re really celebrating. Not just a wedding, but the people who make life possible. The ones who show up, who witness your growth, and who hold you in who you’re becoming. This new collection is an ode to that kind of intimacy—the closeness that comes from living life alongside friends. The first few pieces from Inner Circle drop today, and I couldn’t be more excited to share them with you as a celebration of love in all its forms.

Ever since a recent surf trip in Mexico with some of my closest girlfriends, I haven’t stopped thinking about the intentional ways we show up for each other. The morning coffees made without asking, the endless words of affirmation, the deep curiosity we hold for each other’s inner worlds. Inner Circle, dropping May 5th, was shaped by those acts of care—the love languages that keep us close, even as life carries us into new chapters. What are your love languages? How do you like to love and be loved?
