Every time I return to @suralbc , they’re always adding something new to the menu and this time was a big hit for me.
I got the chance to preview the kkotsal indoor grill set which drops this upcoming Wednesday, October 29th. It’s a personal sized grill that comes with all of the banchan and ssam fixins— and a relatively large portion of meat.
The specific cut is the kkotsal flower meat, which is hand cut from the most marbled section of the short rib. The end result is a cut that stays tender even when overcooked.
I really enjoyed it with radish wraps or in a ssam situation with lettuce and ssamjang.
All in all, a fantastic addition to Sura’s large Korean offerings. Big fan, I’d return for this dish alone.
The latest KBBQ set @suralbc is fantastic. It’s comprised of all USDA Prime cuts of meat, with the Chef Uk Chang’s Prime Combo being my go-to. The large set easily feeds 3-4 people.
It has prime brisket, marinated boneless galbi, flat iron, and kkotsal boneless short rib for the meats, and the sets all come with corn cheese, rice cake skewers, crispy pork dumplings, soy dressed salad, banchan, rice paper, and dipping sauces. We also asked for a ssam set which includes lettuce and all other ssam fixins.
It’s currently the first and only table top grill experience in Long Beach, but it’s still comparable to the ones you can get anywhere else due to the high quality of the meats. Next time you’re craving KBBQ, be sure to give Sura some love!
There’s a steamed egg dish that’s a comfort food in Korea. It’s egg that’s beaten with broth and steamed until it foams up like a volcano. The result is incredibly fluffy and pairs well with rice. It’s one of the most comforting classic Korean dishes.
One of the coolest collaborations in Long Beach is coming up. Recently awarded legacy status, @suralbc has been slinging Korean food since 2008. Back then, they would sell Korean tacos, and as an homage, they’re bringing them back for one day only.
On May 19th, you can get Korean tacos with @sonoratownla tortillas all day until they sell out. At $4 each, there’s a bulgogi, spicy pork, vegan shrimp, and tofu option. They’re all fantastic—and you may not believe me, but the vegan shrimp was my favorite.
Again, it’s one day only. Do not miss out on this. May 19th.

Way back in the day, Sura used to do a Taco Tuesday every week where bulgogi and vegan shrimp were the norm.
After recently and rightfully earning their legacy status with the city, Sura wants to celebrate with a return to their tacos. For one day only—Tuesday, May 19–they’ll be collaborating with none other than Sonoratown for a Taco Tuesday unlike any other.
And if we are being honest? Probably the best fusion taco we’ve had in SoCal yet.

It’s been a whirlwind of lunches and dinners with friends, and honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way. My motto—do what you can now before you can’t.
Loved celebrating Arlene’s special birthday, one of my dearest besties I’ve had the gift of sharing life with for the past 50 years. These friendships are so much more than that! They are my sisters for life.
We celebrated at Sura Korean BBQ and Tofu House and let me just say that Korean BBQ is always a win! This spot was extra cool with its outdoor setup, the meat was absolutely premium, and the service was outstanding. Loved, loved the banchan! So many delicious little bites that made the whole experience even more fun. Such a memorable night all around.
