Visiting Roland’s headquarters in Hamamatsu, Japan, was a surreal experience for me. I had the chance to meet the legendary Takeo Shirato (@takeo_shirato ), the engineer behind the SP-404 MKII, a device that’s central to my music. Walking through the halls filled with legendary instruments like the TR-808 and Jupiter-8, I felt deeply connected to the roots of modern beat-making. Shirato showed me not only the technical side of these machines but also shared stories of their impact on music culture. It was inspiring to create new beats right there in the studio, realizing how these tools have shaped both my journey and that of countless other producers. This visit was more than a tour; it was a reminder that creativity knows no boundaries, and that the right tools can bring new rhythms to life.
