Though we put on a handful of events in that space, we were mostly a vendor on the #southside and you'll get more specific answers from their team.
As to @supplementalspace and the future, announcements are forthcoming ... we are at work on a number of fronts.
Another dispatch from the mothership @recordgrouch re: Tomorrow Sunday Sept 24th, Theoxenia (longtime collaborators Dave Shuford and Margot Bianca) opens our @supplementalspace@_fouroneone_ day of free performances, promptly at
4 p.m.
The duo's set is, at least in some small part, in honor of Apollo. Laurel leafs signal our move to Fall.
Our awareness of the duo, and Dave Shuford in particular, begins with No Neck Blues Band, but in many ways No Neck offers a false flag.
In the mid to late 1990s, we were mostly downtown, big fans of Hall of Fame, Tono-Bungay, Supreme Dicks and Tower Recordings. No Neck were on our radar, but we really didn't see them live in the way we did these other
LES projects.
As Dave's post-No Neck releases emerged, his musical voice sounded mature, defined and developed in ways we hadn't expected and we kicked ourselves for not paying closer attention. Please check out his work with Coach Fingers, D. Charles Speer, Black Dirt Oak, Rhyton ... and, tomorrow w/ the bouzouki and keyboard-inflected Theoxenia.

On Sunday 9/24 Bob will perform work from, in & around his phenomenal _Sahrazad_ 24 Bit #blueray debut release on the @randomwalk.cloud@ryancarlile@visiblecloaks label
_Sahrazad_ is a prismatic journey through generative systems, loosely based on "One Thousand and One Nights," folk tales strung together by a narrator who begins a story without ending the preceding one in effort to avoid her death. Similarly, each of the nine tracks on _Sahrazad _ are riddled with layers that emerge & complicate object-noise abstractions.
We've been itching to hear & promote this work since hearing about it, many moons ago. Thanks in advance to Bob, who will perform at 5.

In-Coming: Over the next few days we will post some words on each of the acts participating in Sunday Sept 24th's closing celebration over at @supplementalspace@_fouroneone_
First up, a solo set from New-York-via-Adelaide minimalist composer Alex Carpenter, who leads the shape-shifting collective, Music Of Transparent Means.
Carpenter and this Australian collective have been internationally active since the early 2000s. Though the two albums we've stocked in the shop (Swipe to see Chord From The Second Delphic Hymn /
Emerging Like An Infant From The House Of Truth_ and Selected Live Recordings_) mostly feature ensemble
work, those Lps also include bowed guitars, just intonation, delay, massed wine glasses, #fluxus inspired composition and, most especially, deep immersive listening.
Can't wait to finally hear Alex Carpenter perform solo and to think more about his research and studies into the history of minimalist composition (he has written extensively on the work of La Monte Young, and one finds aesthetic and ideological crossover with the likes of Phill Niblock, Terry Riley, Arnold Dreyblatt, among others).
It's going to be a full day of music & retailing
Alex is slated to perform last, as our curtain call.

That weekend marks the turn to Fall and we'll be at 411 Kent all day on Sun Sept 24th celebrating with a sale and a wide ranging bill featuring some of our favorite artists and colleagues.
Show is free (we will pass the hat) and the sale will be worth your time. Hoping to move as much stock as we can to offset the exit. Fall is for clearing house.
Details on the music to follow, as the artists included here have been in heavy rotation here in the shop for years. Admire all of their respective bodies of work.

This Friday March 10, 2023 Guess Work Ensemble will perform Brian Eno's early ambient, generative &
minimal #discreetmusic (1975).
The ensemble has been playing this work throughout the pandemic, but Friday's event celebrates their tape
release on @cimiotti.recordings
We are especially looking forward to how the ensemble will engage & activate 411 Kent.
In the spirit of #furnituremusic this event is free, but we will pass the hat in support of the artists.
