this exhibition takes ‘what’s already there’ as it’s start and end point

we researched the ‘place’, as always, peeling back layers in time to see what has been there all along - and having that inform the way we look at how things are in the present and then naturally, the future
.
we went in with a mindset of letting the place speak loudest - fighting the urge we’ve grown up with and been taught by our design educations and years of designing within this system, to cover the country up with our idea - imposing, bringing in resources from elsewhere, monumentalising - all the tendencies that the capitalising, ego-centred patriarchal ways have encouraged in us
.
when you look, really look at what’s in front of you, letting it be what it is, the need to control, to discard, to demolish, to alter, to build over, falls away. really noticing, with the intention to make least impact, means using our creativity beyond productivity
