Thanks to my daughter Naomi for posing this morning while I ironed out some glitches in the darkroom. All good, now. Naomi is an artist in her own right- scroll to see some of her fine barista coffee art. A chip off the old block. #wetplate #coffeeartist #prouddad

Anthony and I have been friends since studying Physio at UQ together 40 years ago. I gave him the soft focus treatment. Time to update your LinkedIn photo, Teddy!

Greg Postle, Australia's best bird artist, given a Hollywood glow by a 1920's Knuckler lens. This beautiful piece of glass has a dial to introduce a flattering softness to a portrait - the barrel is marked " sharp, 1,2, soft". Greg warranted a 2.

I converted silver into silver nitrate, and it worked! Just call me Walter White. Naomi and Greg were my guinea pigs - thanks for sitting still.

Come with me for a tintype portrait with Sunshine Tintypes! This is not your average portrait session 🤩 📷 This was such a delightful experience as a photographer who's read about the process, but never seen it: chemical plus sunlight plus, basically, magic 🤯 After preparing the collodion gel (gun cotton dissolved in alcohol or ether), Raoul spreads it on the plate and then out of the darkroom in a dark slide, ready to go into the back of the camera. An exposure for a few seconds, and then back into the darkroom for developing. The next step is to wash away the negative and from beneath the chemicals emerges a crisp, perfect photograph. Feels like being Kate Winslet in Leo's drawing retrieved from the Titanic. Raoul did three portraits for me - two on tin and one on a piece of red stained glass. He can do tintypes on all kinds of materials including on a music record. Can you imagine?! 🎼 Do yourself a favour and book a tintype session with Raoul - local here to the Sunshine Coast in Pomona and a photo experience unlike any other. And check out the final results on my grid 📷 @sunshine_tintypes #tintypeportrait

It was a pleasure to meet local writer Jemma Pollari. Look at this portrait of the typwriter taken with an el cheapo Congo lens. You can read the letters on the typeslugs! The third photo is taken with royalty - a 1920 Cooke Knuckler with a special dial to turn up the beauty - on amethyst glass. A lovely object to hold in your hands. #wetplatecollodionphotography #cookeknuckler #sharpasatack

Mouse the Dog nailed the photo in one take. Always hard to produce a winning smile with teeth for the camera. Thanks, Jordy. Incidentally, my first tintype portrait with a wide angle lens. #dogportraits #tintype #congolenses
