So here we are all “dark and negative” lol! Because I have all the trust in the universe with her and also she is talented, very well spoken and has some experience in the tattoo world I’m going to share Shea’s thoughts on today and how we do things here. We don’t speak for everyone but we do stand with them. Now here’s Shea!!! It is very unfortunate that the recent news segment about a local studio paints the rest of the Tulsa tattoo community as being “dark and negative” and implies it is unsafe for women to be tattooed in Tulsa. These blanket generalizations about tattoo culture in Tulsa are unfair and are a misrepresentation based on one persons experiences. Tattooing has good and bad people working in it, just like any industry.
There are so many reputable studios in Tulsa that have done nothing to deserve this type of “dark and negative” association. All this news article does is highlight one studio in town while disparaging the rest as “unsafe”.
Our studio is INCLUSIVE. This means that ANY person is welcome in our doors! We don’t exclude anyone based on gender, religion, or identity. We have clients from all walks of life! Our clients come from any and all communities! We serve members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of all races and ethnicities, people of different cultures and beliefs, service members, emergency workers, people that have a ton of tattoos and people getting their first tattoo. ANY person walking into our studio is given the same opportunity to get a tattoo.
This does not mean we have to tolerate people’s ignorance or public news pieces that make blanket statements about tattoo culture in Tulsa. When a person or a news outlet paints the community as a whole in a negative light it causes harm even if unintentionally. We believe it is our duty to share our perspective and defend the many reputable studios and artists that call Tulsa home. #darkandnegative #loveandsprinkles
