(Swipe) Woah, education! Crazy. • So I did a poll a while ago asking if anyone wanted a guide on how I draw older characters since I’ve been asked that a few times. I did my best! I didnt want to make a quick cheat sheet of where to put wrinkles, because those already exist. Instead, I wanted to show my thinking and give a process that any artist can do, regardless of style. My 2025 art summary! As per tradition, I will be writing a long reflection lol • Being completely honest, I’m mixed about my art this year. I don’t really know how to describe it, but I guess the closest metaphor I could use is how I feel about recent PJSK cards. Yes, technically, there has been a lot of improvement. But, in my opinion, a lot of the newer PJSK cards don’t have the wow factor that some of the older ones do. I feel the same way about my art. I know that I’ve improved. But, looking at some of my precious work, I feel like theres something missing in my new stuff. My art feels so vanilla. Bland. I’ve seen it before. There is something missing. I tried playing around with my colors, tried new styles, but I still feel so far away from what I want to make. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt unhappy about my art during my yearly reflection, and I will do what I’ve done before and keep going. Because I love art, I love illustration, and I don’t know who I’d be without it. It’s truly my passion, and I think because it is my passion, I’m so harsh on myself and I’ve found myself feeling this inadequacy. So, I won’t give up. I don’t want to end on a bad note. Because it’s not like everything I made was bad. I will agree I’ve gotten better with rendering, and my experimentation during Akitoya week didn’t go nowhere! So, thank you for all the support this year! Despite all of my feelings about my art, you made it easier to deal with. Even if my art isn’t up to my own standards, knowing that there are people who see and like it comforts me. Even when I’m faced with my own setbacks, all the support I receive from family, friends, and mutuals helps me move forward. So, once again, thank you. Happy new year everyone! • #artsummary2025
