tapped into childhood dreams of walking through archeological remains of ancient architecture, lost it at the roman bathhouse. i will also carry forever the memories of encounters with Zoe the dream home shaper and Hambis, the printmaker, potager tender and all around gorgeous human.

site specific installation: cast aluminum, handmade dyed & watermarked abaca paper panels soldered onto gating system vents, found objects, paraffin soy wax, sunlight.
A spider will sometimes devour the remnants of an old web, transforming it into material for a new dwelling. Mirroring the spider's resilient homemaking labour, this work recreates itself through each installation. I cast hooks and fixation systems to allow for a range of anticipated but imperfect site-specific adaptations. The moving pieces which are covered in fingerprints are an ever changing “saturat[ion] [of] space with bodily matter: home as overflowing and flowing over”. (Sarah Ahmed)
In translucent shimmer// unripe door, I rely on the memory of a window in my late grandmother's apartment. In lieu of blinds, she applied geometrically cut out and wheat pasted sheets of Hanji —Korean paper— to her living room windows, a quiet nod to the use of paper within Korean traditional society's domestic privacy.
Through the use of metal, my own coloured recollections of windows are put in conversation with the tradition of western stained glass as both holy and decorative craft.
This facsimile window is a fragmented offering. It invites the viewer to look beyond its surface and towards the outside —if doors are portals for the body to travel through and step into possibility, windows are doors for the imagination to shape the in betweens.
i am sharing this work as prayer, spell, ritual. my energy has been focussed on birthing small things and slow inner movement. i miss working on a scale that isn't so intimate, even though what i make often ends up being large manifestations of private emotional landscapes. for now i am exploring but i will return to this door.
