The more you know, brought to you by Students United News Network (SUNN)! 🌐The internet was first created by the U.S. government 🇺🇸 during the Cold War to help researchers share information even if parts of the system were destroyed. It started with ARPANET, and over time, scientists around the world 🌍 built on the idea — laying the foundation for the World Wide Web and the global internet we use today. 📶 #InternetHistory #FunFact #civics #politics #nonpartisan SUNN is a non-profit coalition of leading high school and undergraduate student newspapers. SUNN and The SUNN Post was founded by Vanderbilt University journalism professor and longtime Bloomberg columnist Amanda Little

I had the joy of attending the Southern Festival of Books today where two dozen students shared their speeches for a @kidizenship contest and delivered a 3-minute version of the inauguration addresses they would give if they were elected president of the U.S. it was beautiful to see a dedication to unity, solving problems, and offering a diverse perspective on issues of the day from inflation to homelessness and from immigration to gun violence. These are the future leaders of America and I believe their future is worth protecting. Hurrah to founder Amanda Little! @sofestofbooks #newsliteracy #publicservice #reading

Five quotes from the Democratic Vice President Nominee Tim Walz and five quotes from the Republican Vice President Nominee JD Vance said during the Oct. 1 Vice President Debate are shown above. Walz and Vance took part in a Vice President Debate for the 2024 Presidential election on Oct. 1 and discussed topics such as housing, abortion and gun control. “I’ve enjoyed tonight’s debate and I think there was a lot of commonality here,” Walz said to Vance at the end of the debate. I started exploring the idea of building Artville ten years ago when I moved back to Nashville from Brooklyn - the idea actually came to me in a dream. It would be a city-wide festival that celebrates art through large scale art installations and experiences - in the streets, neighborhoods, parks, and buildings. It would bring locals and visitors together each year to see the wonder of Nashville’s creative community. It would provide funds for artists to create both temporary and permanent works, and bring more art appreciation and collecting into the future fabric of Nashville. It was clearly inspired by my late mother Nancy Saturn’s stewardship and love of Nashville arts, as well as years of my own observations and conversations about how other great art cities have emerged. I wasn’t sure how it would happen exactly, but I knew I was supposed to help build it. Last year was the first Artville and it was immersive, joyful, and filled with amazing art and experiences for all. Next Friday Sept 27 - Sunday Sept 29, is the second annual Artville along Martin Street in Wedgewood Houston. This year the festival will feature 20 public art installations, 4 new murals on Chestnut Street, 50 American Artisans, and a host of gallery and community art activities - along with music, food and fun - all for free for the community. Creating a new endeavor like this is. of course, a work in progress, just as Nashville is these days. Wedgewood Houston is only a slice of our growing city but we have been fortunate to have partners and a community there that is invested in Artville’s mission and have graciously helped me and my Artville co-founder Jack Davis and @goodneighborfestivals in our shared vision to make this happen. I invite you to support this mission. Become a patron. Tell your friends. Bring family. Share and follow @artvillenash for information or visit Artville.org to learn more - and get tickets to our Preview Party Friday 9/29 6-9PM it will be an art event not to miss. Thank you for your support and I can’t wait to see you all at Artville!
