We’re teaming up with multi-disciplinary artist Marlo Swan to drop his new limited edition prints on the SUMmarket! For Marlo, art and design serve as tools for examining the use of language, both visual and written, and its pivotal role in shaping belief systems.

The arab-futurist designs of @40mustaqel invite us to reassess our assumptions about futurism, decolonising our outlook and reconstructing inclusive utopias through their art.
Through their exploration of language, letterforms, and creative use of the Arabic script they pioneer a new world of design. The studio challenges the notion of design as apolitical, recognising its power to spread awareness and evoke unrealised utopias.

Faced with the banning of the Palestinian flag in Gaza and the West Bank, Palestinians have historically used the watermelon as a symbol of identity and resistance.
Now faced with the censorship of pro-Palestinian content on social media, the symbol is now used by activists across the world to show unity with the Palestinian people, circumventing languages and cultures.
London-based Palestinian artist Ahmad Salahat uses this symbol and strips away the colour to create a raw display of solidarity with his people, however far away they now are.
Make sure to check out his other work and support his future projects!

Source magazine led the pack, popular for its features like Unsigned Hypem spotlighting emerging talent previously unseen by the mainstream. Eventually, as the digital landscape evolved with the rise of blogs and platforms like Myspace, the influence of magazines waned, reshaping the trajectory of the music industry.
Blurring the boundaries between wearable jewellery and art, @juanita.care_ ’s grills take on an organic form, seamlessly moulding to the body, both an intrusion and an extension to it.
Drawing inspiration from Justin Quinnell’s ‘Mouthcapes’ photo series, these works are hidden inside of the mouth, using it as a setting for a beautiful and unsettling juxtaposition.
Earlier this month we were invited to the Photobook Cafe to check out photographer Lola Li’s first solo exhibition ‘A Heroine’s Journey’ @lola.li.photo
Curated by @feverfewjl and based on the Hollywood narrative ‘Hero’s Journey’, the exhibition re-framed this classic storytelling strategy from a feminine perspective while exploring themes of alternate selves and Chinese tradition…
