Thousands of you have joined since i last introduced myself!
Welcome to my little corner of the ethers….quickly you may find that i am not just a midwife and therefore that’s not all you gonna get from me. I don’t share much of my personal life on this page but i do share my thoughts, perspectives, and insights. I love a good meme dump and really strive to always learn.
In addition to being a midwife, I offer a virtual community where we all can drop in much deeper. We have lots of live gatherings that you’ll see me invite you to often. I also offer both in person and virtual trainings for BIPOC birth workers.
Occasionlly i jump on Instagram live and I also wonder why i don’t do it more often (maybe i will)
I travel quite often, this years schedule is FULL! And it’s some of my favorite content but then i find myself too lost in the moment to document lol
If you have a questions email is best but I’ll answer your dm if i have time!
Tell me something most people don’t know about you!! I’ll meet you down in the comment section!
There’s no maternal health crisis..
Amongst midwives there is no crisis. And yes let me guess…what about high risk cases? What about situations where high levels of medical care are a necessity to ensure a healthy outcome.
Almost all maternal deaths have been assessed as preventable. Let’s start there.
During the 4 papers that @thelancetgroup released they took a different approach regarding the low risk high risk dichotomy. In the care model each individual is evaluated to see what needs they had and then they were met…simple!
The summary of the 4 papers was that the midwifery model of care consist of various practitioners and community resources that ensure each mama has all their needs met. This can be implemented in all settings for all people.
Join us for the festival as we uplift the midwifery model of care and raise funds for the 2nd cohort of the fellowship!!!
We will dance, get inspired, learn, strategize, and activate our joy as a tool of resistance!!
May 2-8th VIRTUAL!! Comment “festival” to learn more!! This is for ALL people not just Black people so PULL IP!!

The lancet study is an esteemed research qbody. In 2014, they released a 4 part series on the midwifery model of care and its effectiveness in optimizing reproductive and infant health outcomes.
They found that with the implementation of the midwifery model of care we could prevent almost all cases of maternal deaths, still births, and neonatal deaths!
They outlined the midwifery model of care as a comprehensive approach not simply a professional role. They coined the framework for Quality Maternal and Newborn Care (QMNC) and asserted that it is aplicable in all countries and all settings.
On a global scale we are experiencing unnecessary adverse and poor outcomes that can be presented and this study proves that. Doulas are not the solution…but they for sure play an important accesory role within this holistic care network.
Why are so many…mostly doulas of color pushing back against this? Why are so many practitioners who were trained by the medical system pushing back against this? Why are so many mothers who did not receive midwifery model of care pushing back against this?
The most common argument I hear is that not everyone can birth outside of the hospital. That many need advanced levels of medical care or they will not survive pregnancy and birth. The midwifery model of care consist of many practitioners including doctors and specialist and is aplicable in all settings not simply home birth and birth centers.
If this feels stimulating, affirming, activating, sparks curiosty…come join me this Sunday for a FREE master class “Racism not Race: An Exploration of Black Maternal Vitality

I love my doulas dooooowwwnnnn and I’ve trained well over 1,000 for over a decade! Annnd anyone who has been trained by me knows that midwives are theeee antidote.
The festival intends to gather community to sit at the feet of midwives. We will have live performances, workshops, chats, and sooooo many chances to dance, cry, process, learn and unlearn!!
What you waiting on?
If you agree with this post comment “festival” but especially if you disagree comment “festival”….either way see yall there!!
P.s. I have just a few more seats left for the next traditional birth worker immersion in Mexico June 25-July 5th…deposit is only $250!!! Dm or comment “immersion” to learn more!
There’s a lot of talk right now about the role of the doula. The game has changed immensely these past 2 decades that I have been a birth worker. We went from doulas being the assistant or apprentice midwife…or often doors were connected in some way or another to the care of midwives to being contracted hired trained and employed by hospitals or their partners. Overwhelming so there is a consensus that doulas being more accessible will optimize outcomes…they haven’t and they never will!
The “everyone deserves care” movement which aka means doulas has made many people see the expansion of doula care as optimal and progressive…it isn’t!
Midwifery model of care (which includes doulas but doesn’t position them as the exclusive or most strategic solution) is projected to drastically improve maternal and infant outcomes.
Simply because doulas aren’t primary care providers they do not have the ability to impact change. Doulas can only provide comfort and support to whatever the client is experiencing but they do not curate the care as midwives do alongside their clients.
In the countries where midwives are the primary care providers they have the best maternal health outcomes. Where as the US has horrendous outcomes and the care is led by pathologist and surgeons aka OBGYNs.
Midwives save lives!!! Midwives loooooves doulas!!
The midwifery model of care is integrative and collaborative by nature. It can exist no matter the setting or how high risk someone is. You don not have to be a midwife to practice within the midwifery model of care..you only have to care!!
I’ll share some peer reviewed studies that go deep into how the midwifery model of care is THE antidote to the maternal health crisis.
Meet us at the Black Maternal Health Festival to learn more and celebrate Black vitality!!!!
May 2-8th VIRTUAL!! Comment “festival” to grab your ticket!
Yall betta go get you one of these….
Naw but for real go grab your seat. Don’t wait until I tell you who the head liners are for you to jump on the bandwagon 🫣
Either way can’t wait to see yall!! And this year we’ll be in person in OAKLAND, MEXICO, and JAMAICA!!!
Yall ready?
The Question now is:
“What is the solution?”
One we learn that Black women are 3-5xs more likely to not survive pregnancy and child birth. That our babies are more likely to be born prematurely, needing medical support, and not survive the first year of life...what is the cause?
Well being that @serenawilliams is presumably one of the most renowned athletes in the world it can’t be to get in shape and eat healthier…
It can’t be go to prenatal appointments more often, have state of the art facilities, and make sure we closely monitor each individual.
She has a blood clotting condition and when she felt the symptoms and wanted to be checked they told her no. By the time they got her under the knife for now an emergency life saving surgery she almost didn’t make it!
Trust 👏🏿Black 👏🏿 Women👏🏿
Come on close and listen to me real good when I say that these statistics only exist within the medical system. Black women are thriving in the care of midwives..Black, white, or otherwise but especially with Black out of hospital midwives.
The midwifery model of care has been projected to reduce 80% of maternal deaths. This festival is a fundraiser to support the Black midwives fellowship!!
Our goal is to sale 200 tickets which will give us the ability to provide scholarships, pay the staff at the birth center and equitable rate for hosting and teaching, cover all of the transportation needs on the grounds, give a generous gift to the birth center for unrestricted finds to support as needed throughout the year and finally to compensate us as the organizers which we are currently volunteering and used our own funds last cohort.
Join us as we prepare for a wonderful week full of transformation and celebration!!!

Wanna sit at the feet of midwives? Then join me and a beautiful line of traditional midwives this June at my traditional birth worker immersion in Mexico. Comment “immersion” to join us!!
Yall: “Can I bring my baby to the Immersion”
Meanwhile this is me…not only can you bring them, you can rest assured they will be cared for, considered, held, and loved on!!
This past weekend we had our info session for the Mexico Immersion happening June 25th- July 5th, 2026.
Comment “immersion” and I’ll send you all the deets and we can set up a 1-on-1 call if you need more clarity before committing!
Your children, your partner, or another adult caretaker are MORE than welcomed. I will be present, with my children, and my husband…teaching and guiding while mothering. Not just Mothering the ones I birthed but yours, too!!
We will be co-mothering…even the ones who do not have children with them. Anthropologist call this “allo-parenting”…or collective child rearing. This is the biological way that humans and all other primates care for the young. Collective care is a core value of any spaces I curate!
We have curated an entire experience for the children during the immersions.. During the immersion they will have their own camp: We have partnered with locals care takers to provide sensory play, nature based art, and so much cultural immersion!!
During the immersions we will have care takers, family friendly activities, and children focused activities!! We are considering nap time, bed time, nervous system regulation, and the huge shift to the littles day to day lives. We doing this together, Mama!
I truly don’t get how you can be a birthworker of any sort and not have spaces that accommodate the babies!!! Once you submit your deposit then we will set up a call to get you all set with childcare, our travel agent, your visa application, vaccines including exemptions, and anything else you need.
What you thought? When a midwife plans to care for you rest assured all the details have been considered!!!
Can’t wait to have our babies playing together and our partners building with one another! This is a family affair!!
Join Mexico cohort and put down only $250!!! Ask me how you can save $1,000!!!!
