I met a (British) guy who works at the company behind TikTok and he said there aren’t TikTok dances to R&B songs. I said, what about the Cuff It dance by Beyonce. He shook his head at me and said, “that’s not R&B, that’s pop.” What Genre of music is Cuff It, by Beyonce?

Doing a big Eid celebration as an alternative to a No Kings protest. Let’s show the world we want to see as opposed to giving our energy to what we don’t want to see. Looking for singers, Quran recitation, Nashid, guided meditation, dancers, or anyone who wants to share positive energy. Also looking for clothing donations, toiletries, tents or sleeping bags. All are welcome.

Suburban Mosques vs Inner city Mosque - -I'm adding a new chapter to my dissertation and need some community help. I've noticed a pattern across the US where most inner cities have a mosque that has been around since the 70s or so that is predominantly Black/African Aerican, usually lower income, and often don't experience a lot of social mobility or growth over the years (i.e. a new roof has been needed for years or they have a mock up of the new Mosque they want to build that's been fundraising for decades. Then when you go to the suburbs of the same cities, most of the Mosques are predominantly immigrant/children of immigrants, wealthier, and growing bigger. with upward social mobility and more people purchasing property near the Mosque and increasing their investments based on the community growth. I've seen this in almost 100% of the cities I've visited. Are there any exceptions? Roxbury in Boston is one. By exceptions I don't mean that immigrants come while they are in college, because it is close to campus, then as soon as they graduate they move away. Or ones that are in densely populated cities like New York, where people don't have anywhere else to go. I aldo don't mean ones that used to be predominantly WD Muhammad or other "children of Malcolm" but then have been mostly outnumbered by Africans or other immigrants becuase of the convenience of the location. Let me know examples if you have them.

Bismillah. A few months ago I embarked on a deep process of healing after getting diagnosed with PTSD from the way I was working. So for my birthday, I'm giving myself a healing gift. I'm GOING IN (Coming out)!!!. Yes you read that correctly. I'm beginning a new adventure with a new public identity I call Shafrodeen (more in a later video). Through a process of deep thinking, reflection, inner work and faith I've decided that it is time to open up about this part of my life I always leave behind the scenes. But I'm doing it in my way, on my terms, using a new media paradigm called SPATIAL THINKING. So it's a spatial idenity as much as anything else. I've also realized that it's time to move on from all my "go for broke" grass roots organizing where I never have enough resources and just do a crazy mad dash to output something of poor quality. So as I say goodbye to this M.O. I've had for the last 20 years, we're going to host a healing ceremony to lovingly and joyfully put an end to that chapter of life. This is also the culminating project for my PhD dissertation at USC. After the event, I'm going to focus on looking inward and organizing my materials to (insha'Allah) walk across the stage to get my Doctorate in May. Please support this fundraiser if you can to help my team write the final page in this chapter of life and make space for the next thing. Fundraiser in bio Shout out to Jack Oliva-Rendler for the Tensegrity model video.

Day 1 of the 90 day HIIPED design challenge. Sometimes you miss things because you can talk yourself out of a goal before you even get started. But when you commit to just showing up, you might find that you’re pleasantly surprised and you’re right on time. #followyourdreams❤️ #grindinghard #earlybirdgetstheworm
