«FUCKING OBJECTS”
While exploring the neighborhood as part of the lab, we picked up several similar stories from SVIVA residents: on the streets in the Neve Shaanan neighborhood, the unexpected and uncomfortable moment of witnessing street sexual intercourse.
These stories brought back flashbacks of my childhood in the suburbs of Kemerovo and apartment my family shared with a prostitute who served her clients at home. I was friends with her son, and one day, at the age of 5 or 6, we unwittingly witnessed the process... In my childish memory this moment was sealed as a mechanical movement, unfamiliar, strangely rhythmic - there was something lifeless about it. The concept of this project is to turn the ordinary artifacts found in the neighborhood into kinetic installations. All the objects are presented in couples. Each pair is set in motion with a constant rhythm. The objects «mate.” The mechanical movement of these objects is unexpectedly and associatively reminiscent of sexual intercourse.
The installations were created in collaboration with the artist Chen Semo @real.semo for site-specific art lab @sviva.space . Curator @finkelstein_art and producer @artur.kir
