A few glimpses of what turned out to be a fabulous 6th edition of Vaani - Kisse, Kahaniya aur Hum. I have always said that this world is nothing but a collection of stories just put together. And this event showed us just why. Just why our world is just stories and stories are our world. When audiences settled down, a few of them willingly agreed to just stand through the entire show and yet no one flinched. Stand, because we overflowed, with people and their love. I so wish we could build places in the air to have many more sit comfortably but such is life sometimes. Not complaining an iota though. It was one evening to remember. An evening of love, art and stories. An evening which longs to be recreated. An evening, that I, as a proud storyteller, was proud to host and be a part of. We at @ekansh_kalakshetra are humbled and elated at the outcome and we look forward to giving many more such shows to our audience. The final stages of #Safarnama It was absolutely overwhelming to see the crowd so involved and giving us a standing ovation. Truly a humbling experience. And then to have @mehak.mirza.prabhu on stage was the stuff dreams are made of. The time she devoted to us even whilst being so occupied is just unbelievable. How can we ever forget these moments. I can vouch that we all will cherish these. I loved all the artists I worked with. LATE POST For a storyteller it is a matter of immense pride to narrate a story amidst a crowd that has so much pedigree and penchant for writing as an art form. And even better when those legends who have taught you in school invite you for this marquee event, it just makes the entire journey worth it. I am immensely thankful to my school teachers Mr Singh and Mr Khan, people who I have always looked upto, people who have seen me at my worst and people who have held my hand and given me confidence to scale newer heights, invite me for this event 'Katha - 2026' in association with the Mumbai University. The little conversations were endearing and I cannot be happier than this. I am grateful for this. For an actor the stage is where he gets a chance to create magic and live the character despite all the nerve wrecking moments that he experiences before he steps onto his spot, which he secretly worships. But this photo is like an iceberg. It hides a lot more than it shows. It shows stoic presence of Amma - reflective, protective and firm. It doesn't show the jitters going within, the staunch desire to not make a caricature out of a powerful character, the multiple failures that went into trying to absorb the mannerisms of the persona that was 'Amma'. What it doesn't tell you is the chaos that went on within. What it totally camouflages is the relentless pursuit of bettering yourself despite hectic work life, kids and family time (which is non negotiable), lack of sleep for more than a month and just feeling drained mentally and physically. What it doesn't tell you is the fatigue that was so dire that there were episodes of blackout and a few other issues that cropped up. But the light at the end of the tunnel was just one. When 'Amma' goes on stage, she should do justice not just to herself, but also the matured and ever supporting audience that would be there. Sometimes, yearning for intangibles is so much that tangibles are no longer required. And the applause, the laughter, the silence and utmost attention and finally the lovely words that came through made all the struggles totally worthwhile. And this is why we do what we do. A lot of people tell me why I take on so much on my shoulders. Well, I do it for such moments. During performance I also got a thing that an actor cherishes. Cash from the audience. That is embedded as a memory in this photo frame. That makes this experiences incomparable. I have to shower accolades on my co-artists @theswarajsingh @socho________ @_saket53 @vickrant.singhh @chaudhary_munesh__ who did an outstanding job. @theswarajsingh your direction was pinpoint and patient. I felt it was important to go back to times where I used to just write. Not for performance. But just for the final consumer who was a reader, not a viewer. To paint a picture with only words is a delightful process. It's simple yet rejuvenating in its own right. Here I try and use rain as a background without using the word 'rain' in the entire piece. Two diametrically opposite characters in one play in about 45 minutes. That's the story one would presume. But that's not the story in reality. The real story is not what happened on stage, but off it. Not what happened in the scene but behind it. 4-5 hours of sleep everyday because, well, work consumes most part of the day, long travels to and fro contribute to the time consumption, time at home, kids, all of that made it really challenging. In fact I hardly ever got a chance to rehearse my pieces at home, because I was hardly there. And for the time I was there. I hardly slept. But as draining and laborious this entire exercise may have been, it just seems worth it now. And this post doesn't say so many more things. Because they may require multiple posts to correctly reflect what all happened and emotion that went behind it. I had never done characters like these ever. This was an absolutely thrilling experience. 'Amma' and 'Jaideep' will remain in me till I remain. Thanks for all the support. Truly value it. #play #stage #artist #art #theatre
