Dear Instagram friends,
Many of you have been asking me about the current situation in Artsakh and Armenia and have even generously offered to help. In case you don't know or may be wondering why you're seeing so many posts about Armenia, there is an unprovoked war happening right now in Nagorno-Karabakh (also known as Artsakh) and Armenia! The latest reports are showing that Azerbaijan is violating the ceasefire agreement in Artsakh and is attacking historic cathedrals, hospitals, and shelling civilians in the capital Stepanakert.
Turkey is responsible for the Armenian Genocide of 1915 - 1923, massacring 1.5 million Armenians. And, until today, still denies this crime. And in the last few days Turkey has been paying Syrian Jihadist Fighters to fight alongside the Azerbaijani army and deploying its F-16's in the air attack against Armenia.

My dear friends and colleagues, I would like to take this moment to explain why Armenians are protesting today in the streets of Los Angeles - Armenia is currently under attack by the neighboring country of Azerbaijan. The present conflict began in 1988, when the Armenians demanded that Karabakh, the land that was part of Historic Armenia, be transferred from Soviet Azerbaijan to Soviet Armenia. The conflict escalated into a full-scale war in the early 1990s. The resulting six year war between 1988 and 1994 caused an estimated 30,000 casualties and displaced hundreds of thousands before a ceasefire brokered by Russia ended large-scale fighting. But Armenia and Azerbaijan never signed a peace treaty and the conflict has remained unresolved, frequently seeing violent clashes for the past three decades. Just a week ago Armenia was once again attacked by Azeris and the war still continues, however we have received little or no coverage by the US media. With these protests we hope that our voices will be heard. Thank you for understanding.
