"Cycles" is a mural collaboration painted by

We painted this mural in June 2024 in Ennis, Co. Clare. It was a collaboration that was a long time coming, and one we both really enjoyed creating. There is a backstory to this mural. The mural shows two boys playing marbles; the wall is located in an area where a young boy was tragically killed over a 100 years ago in the War of Independence in Ireland. Here is some more info from Clare County Library:
"At half past three on Friday, 24th June 1921, two Volunteers from Co. Clare, cousins Frank Keane and Patrick O’Keeffe, attempted to take the revolver from the holster of one of two RIC constables. One of the constables was knocked to the ground, but both managed to retain their weapons. After a struggle, the Volunteers fled. They were pursued by the constables, who fired as they ran, wounding both men. One was shot in the thigh and again in the buttock. O’Keeffe ran up Market Street and turned into Scabby Lane, then into Lysaght’s Lane. He was shot and captured, badly wounded in the body. Tragically, during the gunfire, Miss Hewitt of Ennis was also wounded, shot in the thigh, shoulder, and lung. A six-year-old boy named Patrick Morrissey, who had been playing marbles in the lane with another child, was struck by a bullet that passed through his shoulder and lung. He died while being taken to the County Infirmary"
