This new video marks SUDC Awareness month with personal stories, spoken by bereaved parents and their MPs at the recent Parliamentary Debate. Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood was described by one MP as ‘one of the most serious medical phenomenon in our country’.
Do you know a family affected by SUDC?
Please take a moment to watch and share with a comment on why the cause is important to you. This will help a small charity with no government funding reach a wider audience.
***Trigger warning - emotional viewing****
Thank you to the families who took part in this video or contacted their MP.
Together, let’s shine a light on SUDC!

Today is International Nurses Day 💙
At SUDC UK, we want to thank all the nurses who support our bereaved families.
You truly make a difference during the hardest times, and we are so grateful for your dedication, kindness and compassion.
We would also like to give special thanks to our family support nurse, Lorna — thank you for everything you do, every day, to support our registered families.

This month has been very busy for SUDC UK. On the 21st April we were honoured to present to the Professional Advisory Group for the National Child Mortality Database. This event brings together leaders from the Department of Health and Social Care, the NHS, Royal Colleges and experts in policy. In addition to fostering helpful discussions about SUDC, we learnt a great deal and were grateful for the opportunity to say thank you to NCMD for their ongoing commitment to learning from data and families to reduce deaths and improve care.
Other activities include influencing global progress as an active ISPID board member (the international organisation for sudden child death), supporting various research projects, continuing our free training for professionals in many areas of the country, connecting with cardiac screening leads in Scotland, following up with MPs after the debate and very importantly, supporting families. This month we are excited to have a new team member join SUDC UK and we will introduce Sara to you very soon.
Thank you to everyone who has supported SUDC research this year – either through raising funds, attending Parent Advisory Groups (PAGs) or agreeing to take part. If you would like any information on opportunities, please contact us or read about projects at .uk/sudc-research/
