Open call for Saudi feature film projects! Sud Ecriture, in partnership with the Red Sea Fund, will be selecting two Saudi* projects for its upcoming International Workshop N°44. The selected project holders will take part in a two-session workshop of one week each, all expenses being covered. Next edition will be mentored by Dora Bouchoucha and Lina Chaabane and will take place in June 2026 and September 2026 (locations and dates to be confirmed). Sud Ecriture, in partnership with the Red Sea Fund, will be selecting two Saudi* projects for its upcoming International Workshop N°44. Founded in 1997 by producer and script consultant Dora Bouchoucha, Sud Ecriture Workshops are meant to help Arab and African scriptwriters in developing their first or second fiction feature film projects. Sud Ecriture’s approach consists in working collectively and thoroughly on each script in order to bring the authors to clarify their intentions, while respecting their wishes and the specificities of their story. The selected project holders will take part in a two-session workshop of one week each in Tunisia, all expenses (flight tickets, accommodation, and meals) being covered. Next edition will be mentored by Dora Bouchoucha and Lina Chaabane and will take place in June 2026 and September 2026 (locations and dates to be confirmed). Jour 5 de l’Atelier 43 - Session 2 : Le dernier projet à passer était « TKALLEM » (“Parle”) de @nejib_kthiri , qui est l’émouvante histoire d’un enfant mutique, tiraillé entre ses deux parents qui ne s’entendent plus. Day 5 of Workshop 43 - Session 2 : The last project to go was « TKALLEM » (“Speak”) by @nejib_kthiri which is the moving story of a mute child torn between his parents who no longer get along. Jour 4 de l’Atelier 43 - Session 2 : C’était le tour du projet de @dao_fabien “PRINCESSE TÉNÉ” d’être discuté, avec ses personnages hauts en couleur et son univers cartoonesque. Day 4 of Workshop 43 - Session 2 : It was the turn of @dao_fabien project to be discussed, with his colorful characters and his cartoon-like universe. Jour 3 de l’Atelier 43 - Session 2 : La journée était consacrée au projet de @leila__basma “RUNNING WITH BEASTS”, qui suit une bande de jeunes bacheliers pleins de rêves et d’ambitions, empêchés par les crises successives qui frappent le Liban, un “coming-of-rage” comme l’appelle. Day 3 of Workshop 43 - Session 2 : The day was dedicated to @leila__basma project “RUNNING WITH BEASTS”, which follows a group of high school graduates full dreams and ambitions, held up by the successive crises that struck Lebanon, a “coming-of-rage” as she calls it. Jour 2 de l’Atelier 43 - Session 2 : Hier, nous avons décortiqué le scénario de @talal.selhami “LE REFUGE”. Dans cette version, il donne à la musique le pouvoir de faire revenir les fantômes des être chers de ses deux protagonistes, Leila, ancienne pianiste virtuose réfugiée à Paris, et George, le vieil homme dont elle s’occupe, leur faisant revivre les traumatismes du passé. Day 2 of the Workshop 43 - Session 2 : Yesterday we went through @talal.selhami ’s script “THE SHELTER”. In this version, he gives to music the power to bring back the ghosts of his protagonists’ loved ones, Leila, a former virtuoso pianist displaced in Paris, and Georges, the old man she is taking care of, making them both face their past traumas. Jour 4 de l’atelier Sud Ecriture N°43 - Nous avons travaillé sur le projet de @dao_fabien PRINCESSE TÉNÉ. En se servant des codes du Western, il raconte l’histoire d’une jeune femme qui s’émancipe en transportant de la drogue sur les chevaux de l’écurie familiale. Alors que son business prospère, la crise sécuritaire et politique au Burkina Faso l’oblige à faire des choix difficiles. Day 4 of Sud Ecriture Workshop N°43 - We worked on Fabien Dao’s project, PRINCESSE TÉNÉ. Using the codes of the Western, he tells the story of a young woman who emancipates herself by transporting drugs on the horses of the family stables. But while her business prospers, the political and security crisis in Burkina Faso forces her to make tough choices. Jour 3 de l’atelier Sud Ecriture N°43 - C’est le projet de @molykane ICI REPOSE co-écrit avec @emmacascalespestour qui a été au centre de cette troisième journée. Dans cette histoire, qui se situe dans la banlieue de Dakar, une mère se retrouve tiraillée entre le souci de préserver sa réputation et celle de sa famille et son instinct de protéger son fils aîné accusé d’être homosexuel, dans une société qui le condamne fermement. Day 3 of Sud Ecriture Workshop N°43 - It is Moly Kane’s project ICI REPOSE - co-written with Emma Cascales - that was at the center of our third day. In this story, which takes place in the suburbs of Dakar, a mother finds herself torn between her concern to preserve hers and her family’s reputation and her instinct to protect her eldest son accused of being homosexual, in a society that firmly condemns it.
