I didn’t hit my A goal of sub 12hr but I finished (B goal). The course was beautiful and the weather was in our favor. Going to miss this course. Onto the next race! I’ve secured the Ancient Lakes gym badge.

@hangdawg had a great race day performance. Finished his 50mi as expected. Pulled through the end and almost caught up to me!

When I’m with my wife vs when I’m running.

I knew it! Johnny would DNF due to weak ankles! The Zumbro course is technical and unforgiving. Time on trails matters! Better luck next year 😁

As I predicted. DNF by sitting. He got in 69mi before calling it quits. We’ll get it next time! @rickyvmoua

My brother in green. Me in orange. He ran Ancient Lakes in 2021. I came back and finished the same race in 2026. Still carrying him with me. Always will.

@ptsab13 put together this little celebration for me after finishing my 50 miler. She couldn’t be there in person for this race, but she’s been with me the whole way in every other way that matters. Thank you for always supporting me, believing in me, and loving me through the crazy goals. I’m really lucky to have you. Love you.

I’ve raced with @hangdawg enough times to know what motivates him. Sometimes he needs a few encouraging words. Sometimes he needs someone in front of him to chase. This time, he needed someone to chase. I tried my best to create a gap, but he kept pressing and almost caught me by the end of the race. What I’m most proud of is how he handled the hard moments. He was dealing with a headache mid-race, figured out what he needed, and got himself back on track. After a DNF on this same course last year, he came back and finished it this year through solid training, smart fueling, and a lot of grit. Congrats on your first 50-mile finish, Kevin. We earned it.

Big shoutout to our aid station crew. Without them, this race would not have gone the way it did. While we’re out there grinding through the miles, they’re the ones making sure everything is ready when we come in. Bottles filled. Nutrition ready. Gear set out. The little things that make a huge difference when you’re deep in a race. What people don’t always see is how stressful it can be on their side too. They’re waiting, watching, guessing when their runner will come in, and trying to stay ready for whatever is needed next. The runner may be the one covering the miles, but the crew carries a big part of the race too. They made it easier for me to focus on one thing: keep moving. Thank you for your time, your energy, your patience, and your support. We really can’t thank you enough. 🙏
