Bissu Festival, also known as Bissu Mela, is a spring harvest and cultural fair celebrated by the Jaunsari tribal community in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of the Himalayas, near the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Marking the beginning of the agricultural season.
A central ritual of Bissu is traditional archery, where men from different villages use handmade bows and arrows in a public, ceremonial setting.
Accompanied by drums, folk songs, and dance, the practice is overseen by elders of the community.
