On Saturday May 16, SubWaves returns to Theatercafé De Richel with two sets of adventurous underground music:
Mexican composer and producer Omar Medina presents a solo set of experimental electronics, where sound design and personal narrative merge into slow, layered sonic environments. Drawing from glitch, ambient, IDM and noise, his work unfolds through textured, sometimes dark atmospheres that occasionally erupt, exploring themes of transition, identity and liminal space.
HALA ignites Helene Matthia’s fairytale-like compositions with raw energy and fearless theatrics. Often compared to a meeting between cabaret and avant-garde rock, their music crashes through avant-pop, progressive rock, post-punk and free improvisation in wildly unpredictable ways, carried by voice, guitar, sousaphone and drums.
