Three years ago I stood in the back of the room watching the leaders of this community walk across the stage. I remember feeling inspired, but also wondering if one day I’d be standing there too. Not because of the award itself, but because of what it represented — growth, commitment, and becoming someone who gives back to the people around them. This week that moment finally happened. After the award ceremony, Ingryd Hernandez came up to me and said something that stopped me in my tracks: “You did it. Three years ago you told me you wanted to be on that stage winning this award… and you did it.” In that moment, a flood of memories came rushing back. The nights I felt completely alone. The times I stayed up late helping someone fill out a contract at midnight. The moments when my business felt like it was falling apart and I questioned whether I was doing enough for the people counting on me. Even the times I felt like I had failed my team as a visionary. But what meant the most wasn’t the award. It was seeing the genuine happiness from my friends in the crowd and in the hallways. The messages, the calls, the texts… hundreds of people reaching out with encouragement and gratitude. In that moment, I was reminded of the impact we can make when we show up consistently for others. This wasn’t just another networking event. It was a family reunion. This community has truly changed my life and completely altered the trajectory of my future. I will always be grateful to Pace Morby for building a space where people can grow, learn, and believe bigger.
