ALL HALLOWS EVE:
This day can be considered a spiritual day - a reminder that good and evil battle for our attention if we let them. It is up to each of us to review our thoughts and energies, looking beyond the surface and into our bodies. Maintain steadiness, non-judgement and healing grace in whatever ways we can. We can sit with all the past versions of “self” we have been on our way to who we are right now. Today is just another one of those magical in-between places where introspection can pull us forward. Embrace your human.

Take some time to walk through Scott Schwenk’s simple and effective “Rose Bud Thorn” Contemplation Exercise:
Rose
Write down something that is blossoming in your life. Something that feels aligned and promising. Take time with a few breaths to notice how it feels to appreciate it.
Bud
Next write down something that is budding in your life - not yet fully blooming - but definitively heading in the right direction. Something you are hopeful and happy about flourishing in the near future. Take a moment to breathe in happy anticipation of it becoming a reality.
Thorn
Finally, write down something that is challenging you to grow. Not listing anything that may be wrong with you - more something that is standing in the way of your growth. Whatever it is, take a few breaths while imagining that thing as temporary and dissolving with every exhale.
Appreciate and encourage growth in your life while giving less weight to your obstacles.

SOMATIC SHAKE OUT — the perfect afternoon break from your desk! Especially in the sun for a little Vitamin D!
Watch me train my nervous system by ramping up and slowing down at my own cadence (or by following one of my favorite songs for this practice).
Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and pain of it, no less than in the excitement and gladness. Touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it, because in the last analysis, all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.
ONCE THE WORLD WAS PERFECT
Once the world was perfect, and we were happy in that world.
Then we took it for granted.
Discontent began a small rumble in the earthly mind.
Then Doubt pushed through with its spiked head.
And once Doubt ruptured the web,
All manner of demon thoughts
Jumped through —
We destroyed the world we had been given
For inspiration, for life —
Each stone of jealousy, each stone
Of fear, greed, envy, and hatred, put out the light.
No one was without a stone in his or her hand.
There we were,
Right back where we had started.
We were bumping into each other
In the dark.
And now we had no place to live, since we didn’t know
How to live with each other.
Then one of the stumbling ones took pity on another
And shared a blanket.
A spark of kindness made a light.
The light made an opening in the darkness.
Everyone worked together to make a ladder.
A Wind Clan person climbed out first into the next world,
And then the other clans, the children of those clans, their children,
And their children, all the way through time
To now, into this morning light to you.

[INTROVERT COMMUTE] Sharing a “drive-home” practice that helps to regulate my system after too much stimulation. I’m not a trained singer, but I when I’m overwhelmed, I choose to focus solely on perfecting and sustaining a beautiful note and I repeat it in mantra until I start to feel that requisite energy shift. And wow, @beautifulchorus has always been a huge inspiration. Repeat. Tune in. Tune out. Calm down. Move on.
