The professional trainings offered by SU-IMC aims to teach all aspects of advanced composite materials and additive manufacturing including the chemistry, design and modelling, machining, manufacturing and testing in an interactive environment, where the theoretical knowledge gained by participants will be practically supported by hands-on experiments following each topic. The training is designed for all education levels from bachelor degree to PhD in an engineering or science major. The SU-IMC is an industrial-scale research and technology development center aiming to help all sectors in the field of composite materials and manufacturing technologies as well as an environment to support component design, manufacturing, process and prototype development, material characterization and mechanical testings. Sabancı Üniversitesi’nin yürütücü olduğu “Havacılık ve uzay sistemlerinin ısıl yönetiminde kullanılabilecek çok-fonksiyonlu hekzagonal bor nitrür (h-BN) takviyeli termoset ve termoplastik esaslı hibrit kompozitlerin tasarımı ve geliştirilmesi” başlıklı projede, Eurotec Mühendislik Plastikleri firması sanayi paydaşı ve İspanya’dan Plastik Araştırma Merkezi AIMPLAS altyüklenici olarak yer alıyor. Ayrıca projeyi destekleyen kuruluşlar BOEING, TUSAŞ ve ROKETSAN da proje boyunca üretilen malzemelerin sahip olması gereken özellikleri paylaşacak ve yönlendirici bir rol üstlenecekler. Sabancı University Atakan Koçanalı, a Sabanci University Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (SU IMC) Researcher and student of the Materials Science and Nano Engineering Master’s Program, under the supervision of Dr. Burcu Saner Okan, was awarded second prize in the category of the postgraduate poster competition held at the SPE ACCE 2020 Conference. The SPE ACCE (Automotive Composites Conference and Exhibition) 2020 organized by Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company for the 20th time this year is regarded as the world's best conference in the automotive industry and composite materials field. SPE ACCE took place virtually between 9-11 September 2020 this year with a total of 550 attendants from the world's best automotive companies such as Ford, FCA, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Tesla, Toyota and Volkswagen. In the conference, SU IMC researcher Atakan Koçanlı, under the supervision of Burcu Saner Okan as part of his Master’s program, was awarded second prize in the poster competition for master students with the poster titled “Development of graphene / talc hybrid additive from plastic wastes by upcycling technique and its use in the production of light-weight automotive parts”. TÜMER, AS9100 Kalite Yönetim Sistemi Sertifikasını alan Türkiye’deki ilk üniversite merkezi oldu. Sabancı Üniversitesi Tümleştirilmiş Üretim Teknolojileri Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi (TÜMER), uluslararası AS9100 Kalite Yönetim Sistemi sertifikasına sahip Türkiye’deki ilk, dünyadaki 6. üniversite merkezi oldu. TÜMER, 2018 yılı itibariyle Havacılık, Uzay ve Savunma Sanayi’nde faaliyet gösteren kurumlar için uluslararası platformda kritik önemi olan AS9100 Sertifikasını edinmek üzere çalışmalarını başlattı. 2019 yılında denetime tabi tutulan TÜMER’in AS9100 Kalite Yönetim Sistemi sertifikası, başarılı denetim neticesinde Mart 2020 tarihinde IAQG (International Aerospace Quality Group) tarafından onaylandı. AS9100 Sertifikasyon başarısı, TÜMER’in karmaşık mühendislik ve üretim sorunlarını çözmek ve Havacılık, Uzay ve Savunma Sanayi ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak için kalite süreçlerine ve yeteneklere sahip olduğuna dair güvence olmuştur. Kompozit Teknolojileri Mükemmeliyet Merkezi çatısı altında bulunan iki kurum, Covid-19 tedavisinde kullanılan medikal cihazların ve parçalarının, aynı zamanda sağlık çalışanlarının kişisel koruyucu ürünlerinin tasarım, analiz ve prototiplerinin üretilmesi için katkıda bulunacak.
