LUXFER dress
Dress by me

Modeled by @vlasta_braun
The word
lux - meaning light, fer - to carry. I also wanted for my
designs to carry light and play with the shadows of the
garment.
Clothing, like architecture, separates private and
public space. I perceive glass as a medium between
intimacy and exposure, allowing us to see inside,
bringing light in, but still protecting us from the
outside. Luxfer glass carries light but isnt completely
see throught.
Throught weaving long see through organza stripes, I
created a pattern just like luxfer glass. The space with
more layers covers and hides the body, while other
areas with less layers allow the body to remain visible.
Through this contrast, the garment becomes an
architectural structure in itself. Playing with light,
shadow, and the balance between concealment and
exposure. The whole dress was sewn by hand and the
pattern was created from long shaped stripe
