🐋The best part of Iceland is seeing it wild and alive. Whales and puffins are part of what makes this place extraordinary. But many visitors don’t realize that ordering whale or puffin meat in restaurants threatens the very wildlife they’ve come to admire.
🐧That’s why we’re launching #ForTheLoveOfIceland: a campaign to inspire travelers to choose compassion, skip whale and puffin meat and help protect Iceland’s wildlife.
🌊Together we can keep them in the picture, wild and alive!

A quick life update from Portugal 🇵🇹
I’ve been settling here while juggling a few projects at the same time, which is why it’s been quiet on this end. I admit I have the bad habit of taking on a bit too much, but I just really love what I do 🫶
At the start of the year I set a small goal for myself: Less screen time, more sea time. I’m not sure the screen time has changed all that much due to work 😅
But the sea time has gone up 100% since moving from a landlocked country to Portugal. So I’ll take that as progress! Being by the ocean more regularly has already been a big shift in my energy and creativity.
Now that I’m in a new country, I’d also love to meet some people here. If you’re based in Portugal and you’re into the ocean, vegan food, or anything creative, feel free to say hi 👋

Last Saturday was World Penguin Day 🐧
It’s supposed to be a day to celebrate these resilient beings who live on a continent where most other life cannot. But this Penguin Day hit hard.. because earlier this month IUCN was announced that Emperor Penguins are now classified as endangered.
The main reason is rapid sea ice loss.
Emperor chicks need time to grow their waterproof feathers and learn to swim before the ice breaks up. And now that window is shrinking.
Last season ended with a mass drowning of chicks. And it’s going to keep happening if nothing changes in the way we treat Earth’s resources.
I created this illustration early April, in the same week of the reclassification of Emperor penguins. I didn’t even know about it at the time and now it’s sadly more relevant than ever.
Keep their home frozen ❄️🐧

Campaigns like this are the best kind of project 💙 This client came to me with the idea of creating 3 vintage style postcards highlighting the beautiful Icelandic nature and the ugliness of salmon farming in the fjords of Iceland.
Genuinely so proud to have been part of this with @icelandpuffins and to know my artwork is reaching the Icelandic parliament on the back of postcards written and sent by real people who care
If you're in Reykjavík go to Lækjartorg Tower and send one yourself 📮

It’s Earth Day today 🔵 I tried to draw something optimistic as I usually do but I struggled a bit to be honest.
Humans have been wreaking havoc on Earth for a long time and lately so much of the progress on nature protection is being undone.. on top of all that, yesterday we got the news that Hvalur hf. plans to go ahead with a fin whale hunt this season 😞
So for this year’s Earth Day illustration I decided to just spin Earth around and highlight the part where there are very few humans and a whole lot of ocean 🌊
71% of Earth’s surface is ocean, we need to protect the blue 💙

Today is World Rewilding Day 🌿
The @globalrewildingalliance invited me to create something for this day and I’m really glad they did.
Lately almost all of my creative energy has gone into client work (which is good work ofc) but I hadn’t really made something just for the sake of it in a while.
So last week I gave myself 30 minutes every morning to create something with no plan, just pen on paper and see where it goes.
This is what came out of it 🙌 A mixed media poster, with an overprint effect and a little bit of hot pink, because why not? 🤷♂️ Gotta grab a bit of attention for the sake of conservation.
Which color palette is your favorite?

I'm really excited to finally share this project I worked on last year 😻
I have been following Dean (@1bike1world ) for over five years, so when he reached out about building a brand for his new organisation it was an immediate yes! To give him a solid foundation to launch Nala's Ark, I put together a brand starter kit: Main logo + various lockups, colour palette, and type combinations.
Animal welfare is a big reason why I do this work and it's always so special to get to work alongside people who truly care for animals. Nala's Ark supports street animals worldwide, collaborating with shelters, running trap-neuter-return programs, and tackling the root causes of street animal overpopulation.
I'll share the story behind the logo in a later post, but for now you can enjoy these logo mockups 🐾

Something I’ve noticed after 8 years in conservation:
The majority of good things happening in this space are driven by women.
I mostly find myself collaborating and working with women, who choose to spend their time protecting life, restoring ecosystems and building something better for the future.
I sometimes wonder why the imbalance is so big.
But if I am honest, it is not that surprising either...
Happy International Women’s Day to the people I’ve had the privilege of working with.
The world is better because of you. 🫶

World Wildlife Day snuck up on me this year 🐝🐸🐧
(it was yesterday if you weren’t aware)
I’m on the mend from a double dose of the flu and so my agenda had to shift a bit. At least I got a lot of reading done about whales 🐋
I’m back to doing my morning doodles and since I have some penguin-themed illustration work lined up for a client later this year, this felt like a good excuse to do a little study of chinstrap penguins making their way uphill.
I tried out a new technique for the landscapes behind them. Still a lot to learn but not too bad for a first try.
There’s a lot going on in the world right now, and one of my ways to cope is to get lost in the page and illustrate wildlife out there doing their thing regardless.
Happy (belated) World Wildlife Day 🐧

I’m a bit late but it’s still World Polar Bear Day over here! 🐻❄️ I collected some Polar Bear illustration I’ve done in the past to show them some love today.
I also don’t think I’ve ever officially shared these minimalistic illustrations on the first 2 slides, but they were created for the Ocean Speaks book by @oceanculturelife 💙 Each chapter opening features an illustration from me displaying various marine animals from each part of the ocean. One of my proud achievements as an illustrator!
