Our @btw.shs students came to learn and left ready to get the job 👏Big thanks to our guest speaker @sydneysarner from @insight_global for walking them through everything interview 💼 and to @joespizzanyc for keeping everyone fueled. This is what the Style Saves Mentorship Program is all about 🤍
So grateful to VoyageMIA for the feature. We talked about the two worlds that built Style Saves, how I met Isabela (still my work wife, no fights in ten years), and why for me it has never really been about the clothes. It’s about a kid walking into school with their head held high.
Nobody hands you a roadmap, and nobody tells you you’re ready - you just start, and you figure it out as you go. I didn’t come from much, but I learned the cycle only continues if you let it. Bet on yourself, start before you feel ready, and keep going when it gets hard - that’s how you break it.
When I started Style Saves at 23, I had no idea what I was signing up for. I thought “I want to help” was the whole plan.
Turns out, running a nonprofit means becoming a marketer, a fundraiser, an event producer, an operations lead, a logistics manager - all while keeping your eye on the one thing that actually matters: the families you’re showing up for.
Honestly? I’m glad I didn’t know. If I had, I might have talked myself out of it. Sometimes a little naivety is the thing that gets you to start - and the passion is what keeps you going when it gets hard.
If you’re sitting on an idea and waiting until you feel “ready” - you won’t. Just start. You’ll figure out the rest along the way.
Week 3 of our Spring Mentorship Program brought Eduardo Lara, founder of @thewolfoftacos 🌮 to speak with our @btw.shs students about entrepreneurship, hustle, and starting with what you have. This is the mentorship they need 🫶 we’re so grateful for your story.
Also very thankful for @rosettabakery for sponsoring dinner and showing up for our community constantly 🍕
Fifteen years ago, I threw my first ever fundraiser at Soho Beach House during Miami Swim Week. I was 23, had no idea what I was doing, and just a deep belief that I wanted to help kids show up to school feeling confident and seen.
That night, we raised $20,000 - and it became the seed money that launched @stylesaves .
I’ll never forget the people who showed up for me before there was anything to show up for. No track record, no proof of concept - just an idea and a lot of heart. Soho Beach House gave me the space, my friends gave me their time, and the community gave me a shot.
Fifteen years later, we’re the largest Back to School event in the country, serving 25,000 families a year.
None of it would have happened without that first night. Forever grateful.
Lights, fashion, and so much heart ❤️ So honored to have partnered with @cashandrocket at @themooremiami for a night we’ll never forget ✨
To everyone who bought tickets, and those who showed love through the silent auction — thank you for making our mission of sending over 25,000 families back to school possible.
This is what a fundraising day really looks like. From the early morning workout to the late night gala - with bedtime stories squeezed in between. People see the events. They don’t always see what it takes to make them happen. But every single moment - every yes, every dollar, every woman who shows up - it all adds up to 25,000 families served. So grateful for the women making this possible.
What a ride. Literally. From the @cash_and_rocket rally through Palm Beach to cocktails at @themooremiami in the @miamidesigndistrict - it’s been days full of incredible women, meaningful conversations, and a whole lot of heart. This is what showing up for each other looks like. Thank you to everyone who made it what it was - we’re just getting started.
