@tobysturge didn’t just enter the yachting world, he grew up in it.
With a father shaping the yachting insurance sector, the industry was always within reach. Early days were spent on the water, sailing and understanding the lifestyle from the inside. At just 16, a pivotal introduction to Espen Øino
@espenoeino in Antibes, whose office sat beside his father’s, shifted his trajectory from insurance toward design.
Guided by his father’s advice to gain real experience at sea, Toby stepped onboard as crew, working on iconic yachts including EOS (
@luerssenyachts ) and IDUNA (
@feadship ). That hands-on foundation shaped his understanding of how yachts truly function.
He went on to study Interior & Architectural Design at University of the Arts London
@unioftheartslondon , graduating with high honors, before refining his craft at H2 Yacht Design
@h2yachtdesign under the mentorship of Jonny Horsfield.
Years of experience across other leading design studios followed, until in 2020, he co-founded Sturge Toth
