The Moca designed for @emerica
♥️👟✍🏽
A simple, wearable vulcanized shoe that works well for skateboarding was the goal and I’m stoked on what we were able to achieve. As always shout out to the team that built this with me. 🫡
Couple of decades deep and I still love doing this concept to delivery route through projects.
This @emerica shoe is a solid new piece and will hopefully be around for a long time to come.
And having @smokeeyes & @stunity front it (because they rule, Ofc) with @angel.4now@kyleseidler@victoria._.toledo & @shaungordoncreative behind the scenes is a solid thing.
I coulda, shoulda shared lots of images with this but I’m just a video nerd at heart. Sorry.
At a glance, the @emerica Moca feels like a pretty straightforward shoe. Low profile, clean upper, and pretty understated visually.
But it’s not just another basic suede vulc.
One of the more interesting details is the Flick Shield underlay. It’s a rubber layer built in under the ollie area, so you’re getting added durability without it being visible or changing the feel too much. Easy to miss, but it makes a difference.
Underfoot, it’s using a drop-in G6 footbed, which gives it more impact protection than you’d expect from something this minimal. Still keeps that close-to-the-board feel, just with a bit more support on heavier skating.
Then there’s the triple-stitched quarter panel, which helps the upper hold up longer. From our experience, it feels noticeably sturdier than a lot of similar “simple” models.
Everything sits on a single-wrap vulc with Emerica’s triangle tread, so grip and boardfeel are pretty much what you’d expect from their lineup.
It’s a good example of how some of the more stripped-back shoes right now aren’t actually stripped-down… just a bit more considered under the surface.
