Hosted by local poet Ida Bakhtiary-Rahimi (who read some of her beautifully evocative and funny poems to start the evening), Steven shared some of his “Novel” sonnets (about the act of creating) and “Curfew,” one of my favorites, and several other poems from this first collection of heart-wrenching, humor-filled poems about, according to Steven, unanswerable questions.

There was even some discussion about Steven’s story, “Dorchester,” published in the “2024 Best American Short Stories” collection published by @marinerbooks and edited by @legroff and @heidi_pitlor_editorial

insanely excited to share POND with you all in the new year. there are old poems in here and a lot of new ones too. it's so weird to see everything together like this in my little advance copy, it's very pretty but the final hardcover will be even prettier, so keep your eyes peeled. the book comes out on january 14--you can preorder now from wherever you get your books, there's a link in my bio as well. putting in an order in person at your local bookstore is usually the best way.
