Wisconsin’s the leading state in African American incarceration and the discriminatory truth-in-sentence laws are not just legal issues; they are a hate crime, a form of domestic terrorism against humanity. The urgency to address this grave form of hate cannot be overstated, and Stuffthebox is at the forefront, calling for immediate action. #stuffthebox #freedomforfoote #stufftheboxwisconsin #prisonsystem #JLY

Dear Governor Evers,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is ________, and I am a life long resident, tax paying, and voting citizen of Wisconsin. I am reaching out today to express my deep concerns about the state of criminal justice in Wisconsin and the ongoing issues of incarceration that burdens both our communities and our state's financial resources.
For decades, I have watched as my tax dollars are used to house incarcerated men and women, many of whom have been warehoused in Wisconsin's prisons for 20 years or more.
These individuals who have undergone rehabilitation and aged behind bars, continue to serve time in conditions that are neither fair nor beneficial for our society. As a tax payer, I do not believe it is acceptable for my hard-earned money to be used in such a manner when these men and women could and should be reintegrated into our communities.
There are jobs in our state that many people are unwilling to take, and I truly believe that some of these incarcerated individuals - who are rehabilitated and ready to contribute - could fill those positions. The current system of warehousing these individuals, while the public bears the financial burden, is not only inefficient but also an injustice. It's time for us to move beyond the status quo and create meaningful change.
Governor Evers, I voted for you because I believe in your vision and your commitment to improving the state of Wisconsin. I voted for you because YOU told us that YOU would bring forward comprehensive criminal justice reform. However, in your second term, we have yet to see a reform bill that truly addresses the urgent need for change. Our state is failing, earning low grades for its criminal justice system, and the continued warehousing of individuals is a major part of the problem.
