At Studio Zubio, we design and build all of our characters in-house. We are constantly innovating on our character technology. We utilize our own modular rigging tools that provides flexible and custom rigs while also allowing for experimentation and new features.
Here are some snapshots of our characters from Bunderkin! Bunderkin is in development and we are looking for production partners to assist us in getting our first season completed!
All of the characters you see here are 3D modeled and are rendered with our custom Toon Shader and Texture-based Face Rigs! (Arnold, Maya)
Join me at the Salt Lake Animation Expo on Friday, March 22nd at 1pm! I’ll be demonstrating my new approach to 2D Texture-based face rigging! This technique is designed to provide clean and extreme facial expressions for stylized characters! It is highly portable/transferable between characters and also is...well....cheaper to implement over traditional 3D geometric facial rigs. 🙂

I’m bursting with pride for our exceptional creative team and their unwavering dedication to crafting our very first in-house animated series, “Bunderkin.” This delightful series takes us on the journey of Beedee the BunderDragon and his friends as they unearth the forgotten origins of their culture and unravel the mysteries surrounding the oversized relics and ruins scattered throughout their homeland. “Bunderkin” is a heartfelt tale of young children navigating a vast and intimidating world, a story of friendship, adventure, and the transformative journey of growing up.
In an industry where Hollywood’s content giants, armed with their massive marketing machinery, grapple with profit margins and the search for their elusive audience, it can be disheartening at times to maintain hope that our modest series will find its own place in the spotlight. What keeps me going is a deep-seated belief that the most exceptional creative stories spring from within. They are personal, unique, and should not be shaped by committees, review boards, or the whims of business executives. It’s my hope that our humble animation studio in Salt Lake City, Utah, is the ideal birthplace for a story as captivating as “Bunderkin.” I truly believe that independent content creation holds the key to the future of our industry. In recent years, audiences have gravitated towards platforms like YouTube for their real, raw, genuine, and relatable content. Could it be that original narrative storytelling should also embrace these values? I believe so.
