Another project that has skipped spotlight before. This one was from a couple of years ago. ‘Something In My Mind’; is a key art creation for the film by Director Simon Halsall.
Something In My Mind’s story swirls around the chaotic central character, his fractured mental state and splitting personality. The project needed a one-sheet design that encapsulated protagonist's chaos and visualised the splits in personality; anger, frustration and despair. A huge shout out to Simon here, and another one to fellow Director Matt Halsall who together form Simple Pictures; two wholly generous filmmakers who I have been collaborating with on key art projects since 2014 (Holy moly, that’s longer than I was expecting). The way they create is wild and inventive, conceptual and challenging. They have pushed me to create some of my best, and most rewarding illustration and poster work; questioning, encouraging and squeezing the best out of me. Their ambition and inventiveness absolutely rubs off during the collaborative symbiosis. It’s always exciting to hear from them and what they are up to.

Studio Zoid has a pile of case-studies that have never before seen the gentle caress of self promotion. A change in policy has occurred. Over the coming weeks, new and not-so-new work, created in partnership with awesome clients and collaborators, will be shared for your viewing pleasure!
To kick things off, behold… Pixelfish! This project launched at the beginning of 2021 and it has been so, so cool to see it applied and grow over the last 12+ months. Pixelfish is a UK based digital design studio established in 2009, skilled in building their clients unique platforms that have a positive impact.
Self branding is tough! Regardless of whether we have the skillset to do it. Whilst no-one knows you better than yourself, allowing yourself to step out of your internal perspective and unavoidable biases is a tricky line to walk. This was also the experience at Studio Zoid with a recent, internal rebrand. Collaboration, and an investment in an external eyes & mind combo pays off. An outside perspective can be mightily refreshing and enlightening.
The genesis of this project was a fun one. A nice lesson in throwing caution to the wind and trying out a less usual sales pitch. It feels so great to finally push this. With such an energising process and result, it became one of those projects that really represented a shift, and an exciting elevation in quality of output and creation.
