Déjà View is on view at @knowltonosu@knowltonarchitecture Banvard Gallery until July 15!
.
.
Déjà View problematizes the relationship between architecture and photography, destabilizing the idealized reference of architectural photographic documents. The highly imaged living room is reconstructed twice, corrupting Koenig's design both photographically and spatially, re-positioning the Stahl house between its sensationalized image and built configuration.

Thanks @twiggy_gent for opening your secret door for me and letting me take pictures of your cool store like a kid in a candy shop. The whole trap door is bent mental panels! @devyldervincktaillieu
One of the strangest visual experiences I’ve had in a long time. Mesdeg’s Panorama room is one of the few remaining examples of 19th century panorama painting, and still in its original location.
Completely messes with your eye’s focusing as it wants to look into infinity, but you’re looking at a painting a few meters away.
The awning and staged sand dunes hide top and bottom edges of the painting, as well as responds to actual daylight from a skylight you can’t see. The staff even gives you binoculars to look ‘far into the distance’.
