A glimpse into a new collection.
Over the past months, I have been working on a series of vessels that actually began as an experiment into texture and new casting techniques. By carving heavily textured plaster forms (using a saw among other tools) and then applying thin layers of clay slip, the surfaces took on a softened, blurred appearance. They reminded me of rock formations sculpted by glacial ice, carrying subtle imprints of time.
I used these prototypes to create plaster molds for casting the vessels in porcelain. They are finished in a satin matte white glaze.
