The elegance, the joy, the atmosphere they created in Rome had its own gravity, and I was lucky to witness it from my little corner with my brushes and watercolors.

If you’re in the mood to dive into a dreamy, medieval world, the @nationalgallery ’s exhibition “Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300–1350” is a must. On view until June 22, 2025, it features over 100 works by 14th-century Sienese artists whose style forever changed the course of painting.
Walking through the streets of Siena, I realized just how much the city shaped these artists, from Duccio and Simone Martini to Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti. What struck me the most was how they captured the divine using the city itself as a backdrop. Saints seem to float through golden skies, and the vivid colors shimmer with a whimsical, otherworldly quality. It’s like nothing I’ve seen here in Florence. AD #arthistory #medievalart
I am going to be on Italian national TV! 🥹 Patrizio Roversi took me on a tour of everywhere from the Dolomites to the city that produces grappa on his vintage motorbike.🛵 I created a watercolor and pencil carnet de voyage of our travels on the spot that I have not yet shared here! 🎨Did you know that Veneto, the region of Venice, Verona, and Padova, is also home to one of the most important Renaissance theaters in the world, the @unescoworldheritage Prosecco hills, and neoclassical sculptor Canova’s gipsoteca? I had no idea how much natural beauty and artistic treasures were hidden in the region! The @italiaslowtour episode airs next Saturday, December 23 on Rete 4 at 15:30. The cameo has been carved in Naples and sold in Florence since the 18th century, inspired by ancient Roman prototypes. Even now, artisans still make them by hand: portraits in shell, coral, and stone. Faces captured in miniature and kept close to the heart for generations. When I began looking for a mark for Studio Sheean, I didn’t have to look very far.
There’s a specific feeling you get at a vineyard dinner in Tuscany as the sun goes down. It exceeds everything you could have imagined. And now you just want to find a way to keep it.

A little ritual I’ve kept in Florence for years: mussels or fish stew panino and a glass of red wine (Marco and Nico know I like fish), wandering the Mercato delle Pulci (I found my prized watercolor palette there) and Mercato di Sant’Ambrogio, then a macchiato at Cibreo. These are the small Florence moments that linger. The smells, the streets, the people you come back to. These are the moments I never want to forget.
Situated next to the Bahamas’ House of Parliament, Café Matisse has been a Nassau institution for decades. Matisse-inspired, Italian menu, bougainvillea spilling over the gate. I grew up on this island and moved to Florence, Italy six years ago after uni in Malibu for the love of art. Coming home to sketch here felt like both worlds finally in the same room.
