Color is everything for Susie McKay Krieser. Color out of color, layer by layer, an additive process that keeps going until art reveals itself. We got a peek into her studio to see it up close. ✨ @susiemckaykrieser | Studios 3026 What color are you in love with right now? 👇

Crystal Michaelson loves to reverse entropy. Layer by layer, her work becomes a physical history of everything it has ever been. We got to step inside her studio and see it up close. ✨ @crystalmichaelsonart | Studios 3026 #studiotour#studios3026#crystalmichaelsonart#art#artists#santamonica What does taming your chaos look like? 👇

Trash does not exist for Melinda Smith Altshuler. Everything gets reused, reframed, revisited for a different kind of story. This philosophy has lived in her for decades. We got a peek into her studio to see what gets made when nothing goes to waste. ✨ @melindasmithaltshuler | Studios 3026 What trash have you turned into treasure?

It's always a special day when a painting begins its journey to a new collection. Today, "The Philosopher's Path" is boxed up and ready to venture on to London, England. My own journey as an artist was deeply shaped by a summer spent studying at the Royal College of Art in South Kensington, and it feels like a full circle to have my work return to a city that remains so instrumental to my creative history. In this oil on linen painting, I sought to capture a moment where time and place dissolve into a singular, quiet resonance. The work depicts a misty mountainside where a saffron-clad Buddhist monk meditates while descending a steep stairway. I wanted the mist to do more than just shroud the landscape; I intended for it to create a sense of profound stillness, isolating the figure in a timeless space where the world is held in quiet contemplation. The narrow, vertical orientation of the canvas is intentional—it emphasizes both the steepness of the terrain and the solitary nature of the path. For me, "The Philosopher’s Path" serves as a visual metaphor for the introspective journey of the mind. Those descending steps symbolize a "delving" into deeper levels of consciousness, or perhaps a return to a fundamental state of being. The monk’s continuous movement represents the ongoing, living nature of spiritual practice. Thank you @saatchiart for arranging the sale and Susie for giving this painting such a meaningful new home.
