āAfter years of living abroad, our client decided to retire close to family and friends, building a dream home on a cherished plot heās owned for years. This 180 sqm retreat is all about privacy and connection to nature. We designed it to capture natural light and take full advantage of the stunning rural views to the west, offering a peaceful escape from the surrounding neighborhood.ā #HomeDesign #Retreat #Architecture #DreamHome #Privacy #NaturalLight #CountrysideLiving #studiookami interior shots by @nickclaeskens
When our client had the opportunity to purchase their grandparentsā home, they didnāt hesitate. A mature garden with nearby woodland, all close to family, made it an unmissable opportunity.
During our research, we found that the location and layout of the home allowed for preservation of the original structure. The most private functions fit within the existing volume, while we introduced an extension that takes the form of a pavilion nestled in the garden. An organically shaped canopy, supported by green marble volumes, shields the large glass facades from excessive sunlight. Here, the family lives in harmony with the seasonsācompact and cozy in the winter, open and expansive in the summer. š· @webfotografie šļø @bouwid #marble #marblewall #houseextension #canope #renovatie #verbouwing #natuursteen #pavilion #garden #FineLiving #ExclusiveHomes #TailoredDesign #personalizeddesig #LuxuryLiving

We renovated a duplex apartment in the brutalist Riverside Tower in Antwerp, allowing the original concrete structure to take centre stage. #concrete #beton #architect #spiralstair #plants #crafst #welding #passerelle #belgiandesign #bespokekitchen #rvskitchen #leonstynen #riversidetower #duplex #interiordesign #belgisch š· 1,3,4 @matthijsvanderburgt š· 2,5-10 @oooolmoooo
Throwback to 2015, when we designed a house for under ā¬1,000 per sqm of usable space, positioned at the edge of urban sprawl where the city gives way to the rural landscape.
A lightweight greenhouse structure completes the building profile, acting as an additional skin wrapped around an already well-insulated main house. This intermediate climate zone improves thermal comfort throughout the year: capturing solar gains during colder months while buffering the dwelling from wind and rain.
In summer, the greenhouse can be opened up completely, transforming it into a naturally ventilated, multifunctional space above the houseāa place to catch the first rays of sun in Belgiumās typically gloomy weather. It also serves as a refuge for oversized plants sourced from local classifieds: plants that had outgrown their owners and found a second life in this in-between space. #greenhousearchitecture #indoorgardeningtherapy #budgetbuild #designinspiration #architecturelovers
A unique plot. Only one level allowed. Neighbors all around. A church and cemetery quietly watching. So instead of fighting the constraints, we embraced them.
We turned the house inside out.
The villa opens not to the street, but to itself ā a generous central courtyard, wrapped in covered terraces. This hidden heart becomes the only dialogue with the outside world. Light filters in, views are framed, privacy is protected.
What you see from the outside is restrained. What you experience inside is expansive. A home shaped by limits, made powerful by intention.
Mystery by design.

In the village of Incourt, we designed a small village within the village. Each function finds its place around a central patio, inspired by the surrounding building fabric and local scale. A quiet dialogue between architecture, context, and community. #ArchitectureDesign #ContextualArchitecture #VillageLife #ArchitecturalInspiration #Underconstruction
Two simple words on a blank elevation: āInvisible House.ā
A scale figure. Some greenery. And a radical idea.
It took two years to convince the city council to build a house by almost not building one.
On a steep, forgotten hillside, our client asked a disarming question:
Is it even possible to ignore the rules?
And then, even better:
āWeāre building this for ourselves ā not for architecture magazines.ā
The regulations were strict: sloped roofs, predefined windows, local brick.
The response? A clear no thanks.
What they wanted instead: uninterrupted views, nature unfolding through the seasons, deep tranquility, and the raw honesty of exposed concrete. A home for two ā with room for four grown kids to drop in anytime.
After many late-night conversations (and a habit of deliberately shocking our clients with extreme first concepts), the real idea emerged:
make the house disappear.
By folding the landscape itself, the 273 m² single-storey villa is hidden in plain sight. The slope becomes roof, wall, and camouflage. A sunken patio breathes light and air into cave-like bedrooms, while daily life unfolds in a loft-like space framed by floor-to-ceiling glass ā the valley becoming the main interior artwork.
Inside and out blur. Circulation flows freely. A colonnade reveals the slope from every angle.
Fireplace and kitchen island anchor the space like oversized furniture pieces.
Concrete, stone, and a tonal palette create calm ā constantly reactivated by the shifting green of the landscape.
Sometimes the boldest architecture is the one that almost vanishes. š· @lucroymans
