SIGNATURE DESIGN ELEMENT: SECRET MEMBER BARS. When conceptualizing and designing a new venue, we prioritize signature design elements that create a unique and immersive experience, telling the story you envision. At the Social Club, our goal is to craft a ‘home away from home’ ambiance where frequent members feel a deep sense of belonging and earn extra privileges, symbolized by receiving member keys. One of these exclusive privileges is access to our secret member bars. Strategically concealed behind wall panels throughout the venue, these luxury, private home-style mini bars are reserved for our distinguished members and their guests. Each hidden bar features fridges stocked with pre-batched craft Old-Fashioned cocktails, Japanese mixing glasses, an extensive selection of bitters, and hand-picked clear ice blocks. Members can enjoy the tactile pleasure of stirring their own cocktails or, for a touch of vintage charm, ring our ‘Old Fashioned’ doorbell to summon a bartender who will craft the perfect drink for them. This innovative bar concept and design is part of the ‘Social Club’ by @marriottintl Design Development Asia Pacific, a collaboration between @CocktailProfessor and @StudioNumen . THE HEART OF HOSPITALITY: MAKING PEOPLE FEEL WELCOME. Hospitality isn’t just about service, it’s about creating a sense of belonging. What if the guest experience started before they even step inside? At @StudioNumen , in our work designing F&B concepts and interiors, we’ve learned that a warm welcome begins the moment guests approach your venue. The entrance isn’t just a passafeway, it’s your first opportunity to set the tone, stir emotion, and communicate “You belong here.” This became our focus when we designed the entrance for a bohemian beach club project. Our goal was for guests to feel embraced by the space before they even crossed the threshold. We layered details that work together to shape that first impression: ✺ Lush greenery that immediately conveys a sense of serenity, ease, and natural beauty. ✺ A sculptural, statement entry that draws guests in, and builds a sense of anticipation and wonder. ✺ Staff in laidback luxury uniforms: approachable yet elegant, elevated, and true to the soul of the brand. ✺ Soft, intimate lighting that adds warmth and allure, especially as day turns to dust. These elements do more than decorate, they set the stage for the experience that unfolds inside. They’re the beginning of the story. How do you design a ‘welcome’ for your guests? Whether it’s through the environment, your team, sensory cues, or small thoughtful touches. What makes guests feel at home in your space? Let’s share ideas and inspire each other! @StudioNumen .

BAR CONCEPT + DESIGN. The Social Club is a concept developed with the goal of creating an exceptional place — a social club where guests feel welcome and part of an exclusive community. Inspired by the mystery of old-school member clubs, we reframe that atmosphere into something new: open, inclusive, and bursting with inspiration. It’s inviting and comfortable, yet still a place you have to know — its secrets, its mysteries, and its rituals. A contemporary clubhouse for like-minded people. It’s our reframed way to look at a bar experience: guests stand side by side with the bartender. Inviting guests to go on a journey. The communal bar with open cocktail workstations creates the feeling of visiting someone’s home and being invited to join in their bar. It encourages exploration, conversation, and connection. Here, guests don’t simply sit and consume, they participate. They discover new flavours, meet new friends, and engage in new activities. We invite them to stir their own cocktail, lean in, and become part of the bartending process. The experience becomes something co-created, not just served. Inspired by the raw beauty of nature. Exploring materiality and color through organic hues, textures, and tactile contrasts. We start every design with our hands, our senses, and a story. The feel of stone, the warmth of wood, the rhythm of color. Each element tells part of the story and the composition forms a harmony between nature and design. 🌿 Follow our journey of crafted spaces and sensory design — @StudioNumen . #MaterialStudy #DesignProcess #ArchitectureInspiration #StudioLife #SustainableDesign #BiophilicArchitecture #NaturalMaterials #DesignResearch #AtelierLife #MaterialExploration #DesignThinking #CraftedArchitecture #Architecture #Materiality #DesignDialogue #StudioProcess #StudioNumen #BarBotan

“Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.” — Frank Lloyd Wright Organic design is like the structure of a flower, every element serving beauty and integrity, responding to light, shade, and the rhythm of its surroundings. At @StudioNumen , we believe the best hospitality feels alive, both in culinary design as in interior design. Every material, texture, and gesture becomes part of one living form. Let the space bloom. 🌸 #HospitalityDesign #StudioNumen #DesignPhilosophy #NatureInDesign

SAN DIEGO PROJECT. Design should never be boring, and neither should dining. At @StudioNumen , we create spaces where materials, light, and culture work seamlessly together. For @ctznsd in San Diego, we drew from the bold spirit of the Basque Country—fiercely independent, proudly unique—and infused it with a touch of Californian sunshine. Rich velvet blues that hug you like the Bay of Biscay, textured ochre walls glow with coastal warmth, and intimate corners invite stories, secrets, and laughter. It’s a bistro built on Basque spirit and California light, designed for the moments that bring people together. At @StudioNumen , we believe hospitality spaces should make people feel something unforgettable. CTZN is one of those stories brought to life. Want to craft your own hospitality story with us? CONTEMPORARY WELLNESS DESIGN. In contemporary wellness design, the shift is unmistakable: the future is not just about what we consume, but how we gather, connect, and experience it. Creating environments and offerings that touch the body, mind, and heart simultaneously. Take ceremonial cacao. Dermented, dried, lightly roasted, minimally processed, profoundly rich. For the Maya and Aztec culture it was sacred: a medium for connection, gratitude, collective healing. Today, its revival goes beyond “a drink”, it’s consumed in circles, during mediation or guided ceremonies. People describe the experience as open-heartened, grounding, and clarifying. For F&B concepts, it is a luxury: non-alcoholic, plant-based, health-forward, yet indulgent and deeply sensory. For design, this signals a new layer of creativity. Imagine cacao corners in a venue as a moment of pause and connection: in a spa, a cocktail bar or even a workplace lounge. Design can frame these experiences with warmth, tactility, and storytelling. Not to add “wellness” as a feature, but to embed it into the emotional fabric of everyday life. Our goal of @StudioNumen is to craft environments where nourishment s experience, where architecture and F&B converge to reconnect us with earth, tradition, and each other. Not just healthy, but holistic. Making any space a place of balance. If you’re looking for new F&B concepts or interior designs, please shoot us a message on [email protected].

KITCHEN DESIGN. The kitchen is more than a workspace, it’s a stage where culinary craft becomes performance. For @ctznsd in San Diego, which celebrated its grand opening just days ago, we designed a kitchen that embodies @studionumen ’s signature: refined, functional, and unmistakably theatrical. Symmetry & order. Pendant lighting aligns perfectly with the cooking line, creating rhythm and balance, like a stage set for the chefs. A deep blue backdrop with dark pendants contrasts against the warm terracotta stone counter, balancing intimacy with modern edge. Blue-painted utensils animate the back wall, a playful visual rhythm echoing the performance unfolding in the kitchen. Pro-level equipment is integrated seamlessly into a design-forward environment, proving that efficiency and theatre can coexist in perfect harmony. The result is a show kitchen that invites diners to connect with CTZN’s Basque–Californian narrative. Every detail tells a story that can be seen, felt, and tasted. At @studionumen , we design spaces that cook up more than meals, they stage experiences.

ORANGE WINE: OLD WORLD, NEW ENERGY At @studionumen , we love when tradition reinvents itself. Orange wine isn’t new, it’s ancient. White grapes fermented with their skins, creating that amber glow, layered texture, and wild, natural edge. Think ripe stone fruit, mesty apricot, a grip of tannin you don’t expect from something that looks this colour. Sometimes tea-like, sometimes unfiltered, often wild. Always a little unpredictable. It mirrors the rise of natural, minimal-intervention culture. Crafted, honest, disruptive. A counterpoint to the polished and predictable. Orange wine doesn’t try to please everyone. It asks you to lean in, to enjoy the funk, to enjoy the difference. For us, it’s more than wine. It’s a cultural signal: of slowness, raw material, and process-led outcomes. Proof that when you let things ferment into their own identity, the result is richer, stranger, and more alive. Exactly the kind of thinking we bring into design. At @studionumen , we’re drawn to ideas that ferment into their own identity. Orange wine is one signal of that energy. If your brand is ready to embrace the raw, the layered, the alive ;-), let’s talk.

A JUNGLE TRAIN RIDE, TURNED INTO A COCKTAIL MENU. The legendary @easternoriental Express, A @belmond Train had unveiled its new route, the ‘Wild Malaysia’ journey. A passage through the untamed beauty of the Malay jungle. To celebrate this adventure, @cocktailprofessor created a beverage program unlike any other: six signature cocktails, each inspired by a different tree encountered along the route. From the Mangosteen Tree to the Jungle Flame, the Palm Tree to the Captain’s Speedy Tree. Every drink carries its own identity, its own story. Local botanicals play a starring role, bringing expressive flavors, healing qualities, and a strong sense of place. Through every sip, travelers reconnect with the landscapes rushing past their window. The menu design itself mirrors this experience. Led by our sister agency @studionumen , and realized in close collaboration with the talented team at @byhuman , the cocktail menu becomes a direct translation of the train ride. Each page is a cut-out of a different Malaysian tree. A tactile narrative where one story leads to another. Flipping through the menu is like watching the jungle unfold outside the train: trees lining up, one after the other, forming a lush and layered landscape. The cut-outs recall the charm of vintage storybooks, while the layered pages evoke a wild canopy. Together, they form not just a cocktail list, but a crafted object, sustainable in spirit, poetic in detail, and unique in its storytelling. This reel offers a glimpse into that creative process: from first sketches to final execution, a journey as thoughtful as the cocktails themselves.
