> Studio NEiDA identity Who, what and why is Studio NEiDA? When we started a couple of years back, we began the process of finding answers to these questions by naming the studio. The wish was to create something new. To have a name that could be imbued with meaning by the multitudes the studio was to become home to. The name NEiDA has no fixed definition. It is easy to pronounce and orthographically it has the word “IDEA” and the letter “N” hidden within it: New Idea. Once this was established we played within the constraints of the letters of NEiDA to find definitions, services and values the studio is and stands for. And here we are. Well on our journey to give meaning to our name and to create architecture that holds multitudes. Studio NEiDA Is a…Nomadic, Experimental, Inter-Disciplinary Atelier We make…Narratives, Exhibitions, Installations, Design & Architecture We believe in…Nature, Equity, Inclusivity, Decolonial & Afrotopia. > THE STUDIO Credits Type: Graphic Design and Brand Identity Status: Completed Start: 2023 Image: Studio NEiDA

> Winning Projects • The Falcon Cinema, Ghana. We are proud to have The Falcon Cinema as one of 3 projects highlighted as part of the Europe 40 under 40 Architecture and Design Award for 2026 that our co-founder, @jeanne.autranedorh , has been named a winner of. Following the inspiring vision of prolific African film curator Jacqueline Nsiah @yaa.abrefi to create a purpose-built, climate-responsive cinema in her hometown of Berekuso, a few kilometres north of Accra, the concept design we developed for her is rooted in the communal compounds of Asante architecture. The project features four buildings arranged around a courtyard. The Falcon includes one 250-seater and one 150-seater screening room, a restaurant, an archive, communal spaces, and an outdoor cinema. At a later date, a smaller second compound will be built to house living quarters for filmmakers in residence. Building a state-of-the-art screening room with renewable materials and natural ventilation will make The Falcon a stand-alone cinema experience, combining the comfort of materials befitting the local context with an ambitious and thoughtful film programme. Funding is currently being sought for the project, so it may move from afrotopian imagination to a real-life cinema dedicated to the archive and future of African filmmaking. > The Monocle Companion “Lomé still has a particular architectural character but it’s at risk of disappearing. Love them or hate them, these buildings make the city what it is – and this matters. We must take notice: when they’re gone, they’re gone.” For its special Venice Architecture Biennale Companion edition the Monocle team asked fifty architects and thinkers to talk to them about their ideas on ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN and BUILDING BETTER and we were delighted to be among them! We had a wonderful conversation with Stella Roos (@stellarooss ) about preserving Lomé’s modernist legacy as a way to celebrate Togo’s unique architectural heritage. We love the format of the small red book and we love the illustration of Lomé’s iconic BOAD building by @jonarneberg ! > The Architectural Review, Coast Hôtel de la Paix is Lomé’s most iconic modern ruin. Prominently sitting on the seafront its fate remains unclear, yet even in its current state it inspires young creatives (and us) to imagine a cityscape that remains home for buildings that reflect the imagination of the immediate aftermath of colonial independence. We believe it holds great potential for an adaptive reuse that could set architectural precedents for how the legacy of modern architecture is dealt with. Thanks to a commission for an article from @thearchitecturalreview we were able to delve more deeply into the historical and current context of this former luxury hotel for their “Revisit” series. Thank you to the editorial team for letting us share more details about this extraordinary building! > ARCH +, #262, African Spatial Thinking We were invited to contribute to a special @archplusnet issue titled: African Spatial Thinking / Denkräume Afrika. Together with Sabrine Bako of @archicanisme we wrote an in-depth take on Lomé’s modern architecture. We situate a number of the most striking examples of modern and modernist-inspired buildings that were built in the second-half of the 20th century within the context of the post-colonial period following Togo’s independence from France. The writing is a continuation of curatorial work for Togo’s first national pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale last year. Thank you everyone at ARCH+ for including this deep-dive in this special issue. It is an honour to be included among so many innovative peers pushing for more visibility of the work being done in the field of architecture across the African continent! > Adakpame Guesthouse in Lomé, Togo The building was constructed with compressed earth blocks, building upon a simple concrete base structure cast in situ. The bricks were made with local clay and manually pressed on site, where they dried in the sun before being assembled. The rooms are naturally cross-ventilated, creating a passive cooling system, which ensures a cool temperature even during the hottest of seasons. A final coating of the brick walls with a mix of raw earth and lime ensures a smooth finish and better weather resistance. > Arch Daily /1035468/adakpame-guesthouse-studio-neida Credits Type: Residential, Guesthouse Location: Lomé, Togo Status: Completed Start: 2009 Project End: 2023 Client: Private Studio NEiDA Team: @jeanne.autranedorh (Architecture and Design) Collaborators: Mi-hein-nou Kimo EDORH (Engineering and Site Supervision) Photo: Studio NEiDA
