How or where are you celebrating this season?
Cosy nights in with my family. Candlelit dinners, yummy snacks, fireplaces, scrabble games...
Favourite movie you insist on watching each year?
It’s all 90s nostalgia at the holidays - While You Were Sleeping, You’ve Got Mail and Home Alone are all on the must-watch list.
Is there a holiday food or drink you can’t wait to have?
Egg Nog... and fresh croissants on Christmas morning.
What do you bring to a party?
Charcuterie
Tell us something special about your collection for Tchin Tchin?
These pieces are part of a larger body of work that I’ve been developing all year looking at my own experiences of anxiety and expectations. It’s been so rewarding to work on pieces that are more personal.
What is your favorite piece you made this season?
I love the “squiggles” they are colourful and playful and capture giddiness and excitement – those butterflies in your stomach.
Something you’re manifesting for 2026?
Bigger, braver and more honest pieces than I’ve made before.
Is there an object from another artist that is on your wishlist?
A couple moody mugs from @objects_and_feelings . They have so much personality and they make me laugh. I also have my eye on a handwoven chessboard from montreal-based artist @hautbeau
Favorite winter activity?
Snowy hikes with my dog Henry. He loves the snow.

Lia Karras is a visual artist working primarily in textiles. She is interested in expressing the complexity of emotions and the elusiveness of memories through colour and texture.
Her practice involves manipulating reclaimed textile waste from local fashion designers to create textural colourscapes and sculptural work that invite viewers to pause and draw close with empathy.
Lia studied interior design and furniture making in Toronto. she has been weaving since 2014. She currently lives in Ottawa.
Lia Karras est une artiste visuelle qui travaille principalement le textile. Elle s'intéresse à exprimer la complexité des émotions et la fugacité des souvenirs à travers la couleur et la texture.
Sa pratique consiste à manipuler des chutes de textiles récupérées auprès de créateurs de mode locaux pour créer des paysages colorés et texturés ainsi que des œuvres sculpturales qui invitent le spectateur à la contemplation et à l'empathie.
Lia a étudié le design d'intérieur et la fabrication de meubles à Toronto. Elle tisse depuis 2014 et vit actuellement à Ottawa.
