I know newborn photos are usually focused on ASAP pics of tiny sleepy babies, but I’m more of a sucker for that direct eye contact, even if it’s more challenging to photograph. What’s your preference?

Is this a teeny glimpse into how it may have been for my mom? Having 4 babies, with me as the youngest, making it look easier than it probably is? Witnessing all the love that surrounds this little girl, knowing she gets to grow up with these fun and adoring siblings? I secretly love getting to photograph families of 6. It’s one small way of connecting with my own family story and I always leave thinking how incredible moms are. Both my own and the ones I have the honor to photograph. 💖

It’s overrated having smiles for every shot. Kids have the ability to be so soulful and unguarded. You already know I’m all for the playful family photos, but this kind of quiet is beautiful and perfect and worth preserving too.
This is Logan for his first birthday. I think I gasped when this came up on my screen when I was culling. Immediately felt it was one of the best photos I’ve taken during a family session. Trying to pay attention to those feelings and lean more into them. We’ll see where they take me. 🧚🏻♀️
