âDoors, doors, the Barnâs new door!â
with architect Stephanie Horowitz @stephaniezed of @zeroenergy_design .
We talk about windows all the time⌠now itâs time for doors to shine.
Who better to learn from than someone whoâs spent the last 20 years designing incredible high-performance and Passive House homes?
Stephanie will walk us through ZeroEnergy Designâs approach to door detailing and installation, how their process has evolved over time, and some lessons learned along the way. Weâll look at details that worked, details that maybe didnât, and how to make your next door install perform and last.
Plus, we have a guest star:âď¸
The brand new @studiohpdc âBarnâ door, provided by @europeanarchitecturalsupply , was just installed! Weâll get an up-close look at this impressive triple-pane door and dig into the details together. I canât wait to see it.
Huge thanks to Studio HPDC for hosting (itâs been a while!) and to European Architectural Supply for supporting the event đđťđĽ¤

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center recently awarded Studio HPDC two grant-funding awards totaling more than $600K. The grants will extend and expand two of Studio HPDCâs pilot programs supporting vocational school students and educators in accelerating career awareness and technical knowledge of high-performance building and its construction practices. Both awards were announced on March 13 at MassCECâs Central MA Regional Clean Energy & ClimateTech Workforce Summit. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is a state economic development agency dedicated to accelerating the growth of the clean energy sector across the Commonwealth to spur job creation, deliver statewide environmental benefits and to secure long-term economic growth for the people of Massachusetts.
With new funding from MassCECâs Student and Young Adults Career Awareness and Training grant program, Studio HPDC will continue its Studio HPDC Tech School Accelerator program focusing on high-performance career awareness for vocational school students enrolled in a high-school level construction program. Recently, Studio HPDC brought 43 students and 7 educators from Greater Lawrence Technical School and Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School to NESEAâs BuildingEnergy Boston 26 conference as part of the 2025 - 2026 Studio HPDC Tech School Accelerator program.

What do you get when you put together 2 vocational schools, 43 students, 7 educators, and 22 professionals at NESEAâs BuildingEnergy Boston? Career awareness success for the high-performance building sector!
Vocational students from Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School and Greater Lawrence Technical School joined Studio HPDC for the first day of BuildingEnergy Boston in March 2026 as part of Studio HPDCâs Tech School Accelerator program. Students representing all the major construction trades (carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and construction craft labor) were welcomed to the conference by NESEA Board Member, and Studio HPDC Board member, Stephanie Horowitz before working with high-performance building professionals to prepare for each aspect of the conference experience. The students fully participated in the three main features of any professional industry conference: networking on the trade show floor, lunch with selected industry professionals, and attending a presentation aligned with their career interests. To wrap up the day, Studio HPDC facilitated a discussion with students to spark reflection and cement learnings from the conference experience.Â
