Here are some absolutely FREE open source resources for artists and well, anyone really!Save this, share it with people: Also I am not sponsored whatsoever. I am only doing this to share free resources, I believe that art is accessible and I believe in community over competition. I’m going through rough times, I’m sure many other people are as well. 1) Affinity Studio is a powerhouse all in one graphic design software. Vector, pixels, typography, you name it @affinity 2)OBS Studios is an open source broadcasting, streaming, podcasting software. Highly recommend, donate if you can! 3) Unsplash is amazing for free stock photos and collages, photographers allow others to use their work with credit. Please, hire them if you have the means. @unsplash 4) FreeSewing is seeking to democratize fashion, and fight against fast fashion through open source patterns @freesewing_org 5) Blender is amazing for all things 3D, it’s open source, please donate and support if you can, the team works extremely hard and it’s just a powerhouse of a software. @blender.official 6) Material foe the arts is an amazing resource for artists, physical items from companies, or individuals, etc just awesome. Volunteer or donate they’re based in NYC @materialsforthearts 7) Adobe QR Generator—they’re completely free to use to generate a QR code that lasts forever. @adobe 8) NYC Back Alley Artists Alliance—free resource for small indie artists who bend, we share resources with each other just a great place to be for small artists, @nycbaaa started by @thegraveyardrave 9) CreatorsNYC hosts meetups and shares resources and news @creatorsnyc was started by @chichbolt and friends Please #share these resources with your friends and other artists you may know! It costs nothing but can mean a lot to them! Thank you. And if you have resources, please share them below in the comments or dm me. I’m looking to create a master list website for artists.#free #resources #nyc #artist #lgbt #smallbusiness

My partner, witnessed contractors harm animals on Thursday April 23rd approximately 5pm. Trigger warning! He called 311 to file a complaint, I don’t think pigeons are protected species but regardless I was just getting my thoughts out. Trigger warning #animalcruelty #nyc #is131 #pacehighschool #blood

We planted a white lady peach tree last year because I love white peaches. I had to pick between white peach and black cherry which is kinda ironic that they’re stone fruits and sort of have opposite polarity when it comes to color? Anyway, now I’m up past my bed time thinking about how nature teaches us to be selfless and endure the constant pull of instant gratification. In the meantime, I’ll just watch my baby grow this spring right in time for summer. I can cross out another New Year’s resolution item—to harvest a white 🍑 ✨ 🥹 @erikdalland I’m so proud of our baby #nyc #garden #whitepeach #spring #bottom

TLDR; account moving away from art focus, posts will be wonky for a bit. Focusing on community and self care. #announcement #art #lgbt #artist #selfcare Hey friends! It’s been a heavy couple of years for studio gloom, I found myself trying to figure out what I intended to do with this account. From unemployment to employment art is not my main source of income. During this time, I found that capitalism has robbed me from the joy of making art, and I this post is to reclaim my power in my own art. I will no longer be selling art. That being said, as a creative person, I will never stop making art. I’m at a crossroads on what I want to do with this account and I’m thinking there will be random things happening in the near future. With the world as it is right now, while I live in a fascist, imperial, authoritarian, terrorist, etc… country I will continue to do my part but this account will be my outlet for a moment of peace and resistance through happiness and community building. I will still make art, some of my posts will be my own art, but it will no longer be the main focus. I hope you can understand, and let me know your thoughts. Social media is supposed to be social.

PSA: rubber degrades when not stretched often Is this art? I’m not sure. But one this is certain, Monday was NOT a good day for me. I planned to arrive early to my first day of work. These shoes were perfect, I wore them since elementary school nearly two decades ago. I haven’t touched them since graduating college nearly a decade ago so they’ve been sitting there. I didn’t know that dry rot was a thing that happened to rubber—it looked perfect until I started walking in the rain and the entire shoe fell apart. From being 20 minutes ahead of schedule to 4 minutes late, imagine me hobbling in the city to work while my shoe was falling apart and I practically was barefoot at the office. Thank goodness to @erikdalland for getting me a new pair of shoes, truly my knight in shining armor 💖

This is something I’ve been really proud of making for January and February! Pick up a copy at @8ballcommunity the crew came together to help assemble and print the books! I helped bind this book, and I designed both the vellum and inner cover. Thanks to @aangelawei and @morrottidesign for creating this zine and thanks to the community for their submissions and @secret_riso_club for printing. I love yall!

Happy Valentine’s Day! It feels great to be wanted and loved. Here’s to another dinner Mr.Gloom made for me! Delicious, I loved every bit. Another card I’ve printed to show my appreciation as well. I hope you all are having a great day with your loved ones. Remember that there’s so little time to spend together, every little moment counts Also, I was so overwhelmed today I couldn’t bring myself to do the vendor event. I’m sorry for those who were excited to see that, there will be more. 🥰 xoxo Gloom

I realize after all these years, I’ve never been one to follow trends. I’ve just made what I make and posted when I felt like posting it. Now, I may be late but here is an Artist and their art post! I’m very insecure about the way I look so please be kind, that’s why I rarely post pictures of myself. If you’re new to studio gloom, welcome, I’m a Chinese American, genderfluid, lower east side native. I’m constantly fighting artblock and finding inspiration and improving my drawing skills. I’m also an event planner, a designer, developer, and small business owner. I started this account back in 2023 after meeting some artists as an introverted sticker maker. Although as a socially anxious and generally anxious person, I still get drained meeting people and especially new people, art has helped me be more comfortable with who I am and who I could be. I’ve been able to hold longer conversations and have more of a voice with my art. This year, I’ve hosted 2 events, made many new pieces of digital art, and traditional art and stepped out of my comfort zone when it comes to learning how to draw. For the new year I’d love to host 4 events, make much more art and draw every single day. 2026 is our year #manifesting Please, if you have any questions or anything nice to say, comment below! If you think someone would love my profile, don’t hesitate to share. And finally, thank you for all your support. I’m glad that I put myself out there. #art #artist #lgbt #nyc #smallbusiness
